Washington Redskins 2012 Season Win Total Outlook & Projection:
2012 Washington Redskins Las Vegas Season Win Total Line;
As of this writing, oddsmakers have the 2012 regular season
win total betting line
for the Washington Redskins set at 6.5 wins…
This represents an increase of 1.5 wins from the Redskins’
prior year regular season mark of (5-11). And it’s the same regular season
win total line as in the prior season, which saw the Redskins go under the number.
Part of this line has to do with the fact that Washington will suit up
a rookie QB in Robert Griffin III. Another factor is that upon first glance, Washington’s
schedule grades on the lighter side with their 2012 opponents combining for a winning %
of under .500 in the prior season.
Schedule Analysis:
Regardless of first glance at a SOS chart, the Redskins play in the NFC East which
sports the Super Bowl champ Giants with a regular season record of just (9-7), plus underperforming
Eagles and Cowboys squads each finishing at (8-8) last season… These 3 teams’ numbers
are to be taken with a grain of salt when looking inside the SOS numbers.
Other factors making Washington’s schedule appear easier than it actually is are games at St. Louis,
at Tampa Bay, at Cleveland, and home to Minnesota, all of which sported such abysmal records,
that it overinflates the so called easiness of Washington’s opponent’s combined winning %
from a season ago.
Therefore, if we grade the 6 division games as tough, as well as the following other contests;
We find at least 11 tough games, not to mention what Cam Newton is capable of bringing in week 9.
Overall the Redskins will play 7 times versus playoff squads from a season ago.
This represents an increase of two such matchups compared to the previous season.
Record Projection:
In 2012 we project the Redskins to go (4-12), a slight downgrade from our opening
projection, and missing the
Vegas season win total of 6.5 games… Unless more than one division
rival collapses, or Robert Griffin lights it up, we see the Redskins struggling
to beat this number as their schedule grades much harder than a first glance at
the numbers indicates.
