Washington Redskins 2011 Season Win Total Outlook & Projection:
2011 Washington Redskins Las Vegas Season Win Total Line;
Oddsmakers currently have the regular season
win total betting line for the Washington Redskins set at 6.5 wins…
This represents an increase of 1/2 win from the Redskins’
prior year regular season mark of (6-10).
Part of this line has to do with the fact the Redskins
play in the stout NFC East, and are in a rebuilding phase
with serious questions at the quarterback position (a battle
between Rex Grossman & John Beck).
Surely there’s not a lot of betting interest.
But there has been improvement during the offseason,
including the acquisitions of NT Barry Cofield (who unlike
the last guy, will go out and play), WR Jabar Gaffney, RB Tim Hightower
and rookie OLB Ryan Kerrigan. All the while the 6.5 season win total
has held firm. Perhaps there’s a bargain to be had.
Schedule Analysis:
In 2011 the Redskins will play 5 times versus playoff squads from a season ago.
This represents a decrease of two such matchups compared to the previous season;
Of course, the Seahawks in their current state of affairs can essentially be removed from the above list.
If we discount Seattle, the Redskins will face just 1 prior year playoff team during the first
3/4 of the season.
However, other potentially competitive matchups include;
NY Giants in week 1, @Dallas in week 3, @St. Louis in week 4, @Miami in week 10,
Dallas in week 11, @NY Giants in week 15, and Minnesota in week 16.
Lighter competition includes;
Arizona in week 2, @Carolina in week 7, @Buffalo (in Toronto) in week 8,
San Francisco in week 9, and @Seattle in week 12.
Record Projection:
In 2011 we project the Redskins to go (8-8), topping the
Vegas season win total of 6.5 games. This is a better record
than most pundits are projecting, but we see an improved
defense coming together in Washington, which could have a dramatic
affect in the record department.
