Tennessee Titans 2007 NFL Projection:
Who would have thought a Titans team that started the 2006 season (0-5), and after
nine games sat at (2-7), would roll off 6 wins in a row, including 3 in a row against the Eagles,
Giants, and Colts?
In 2006 the Vince Young led Titans seemed capable of beating almost any team on any given Sunday.
To be fair the Titans were blown out in three games started by Young, and in one additional game which
he appeared in. But Young brings to the Titans the ability to make a big play at any moment that can
win the game.
However, even during the Titans’ six game winning streak, Young only averaged throwing for 166 yards per game.
Generally speaking, that is not a level of production from the QB position which leads to a large
number of
wins year after year.
The departure of WR Drew Bennett will probably make it harder for Young to
throw for anything close to
200 yards per game.
To make matters worse, the departure of Travis Henry raises several questions at running back.
However, the Titans’ offensive line exhibited solid play during the second two-thirds
of the 2006 season. Whoever wins the starting RB job in Tennessee should have an opportunity
to produce.
Unfortunately for Tennessee, the biggest hurdle facing the team in the upcoming 2007
season is a defense that surrendered the most points in the AFC
last season… Add to that the suspension of Pacman Jones, and it’s not easy to see the Titans stopping
the opposition enough to match last season’s impressive wins total, let alone build upon the total.
Further hindering our wins prediction in 2007 is a schedule that includes 11 games versus
playoff caliber teams as follows;
The first three weeks are so brutal; the Titans could easily start (0-3).
Then starting in week 9, the Titans play eight brutal games in a nine week span.
Overall we’re predicting a (4-12) season for the Tennessee Titans as the schedule
in 2007 appears too difficult for the team to match last season’s record.
