2006 NFL Projection:
Coming off a Super Bowl appearance the Seattle Seahawks
find a schedule that only includes six games versus teams that finished
at .500 or better in 2005. Furthermore, one of those teams, the
San Diego Chargers, finished at 8-8 and will be playing a first
year starter at quarterback in Philip Rivers… It should be noted
that division rival St. Louis probably would have finished
better than 6-10 last season Marc Bulger hadn’t injured his shoulder.
But even if both games
versus St. Louis this season are deemed “tough games”
(St. Louis did sweep Seattle two seasons ago with Bulger healthy),
there are still another eight games on the schedule versus teams
that finished below .500 in 2005. That’s quite a break for
a team coming off a Super Bowl appearance. For comparison sake,
contrast the Seahawk’s schedule to that of the New Orleans
Saints, a team that finished 3-13 last season, and now must play
eleven games in 2006 versus teams that finished at .500 or better
in 2005. Clearly the Seahawks possesses one of the easier overall
schedules for a returning playoff team which should help ease
the loss of Steve Hutchinson. Barring any key injuries Seattle should
be able to cruise through the regular season, qualify for the playoffs,
where they can then turn it on in an effort to make another run
at the Super Bowl… See straight up NFL game predictions.
