2006 NFL Projection:
Coming off a Super Bowl appearance the Seattle Seahawks find a schedule that only includes six games versus teams that finished at .500 or better in 2005. Furthermore, one of those teams, the San Diego Chargers, finished at 8-8 and will be playing a first year starter at quarterback in Philip Rivers… It should be noted that division rival St. Louis probably would have finished better than 6-10 last season Marc Bulger hadn’t injured his shoulder. But even if both games versus St. Louis this season are deemed “tough games” (St. Louis did sweep Seattle two seasons ago with Bulger healthy), there are still another eight games on the schedule versus teams that finished below .500 in 2005. That’s quite a break for a team coming off a Super Bowl appearance.

For comparison sake, contrast the Seahawk’s schedule to that of the New Orleans Saints, a team that finished 3-13 last season, and now must play eleven games in 2006 versus teams that finished at .500 or better in 2005. Clearly the Seahawks possesses one of the easier overall schedules for a returning playoff team which should help ease the loss of Steve Hutchinson. Barring any key injuries Seattle should be able to cruise through the regular season, qualify for the playoffs, where they can then turn it on in an effort to make another run at the Super Bowl… See straight up NFL game predictions.

Seattle Seahawks 2006 NFL Predictions

Week 1
Sep 10
@Detroit Win Projected – Starting the season with a winnable road game is always a plus, as odds will greatly favor the Seahawks in this matchup with the Lions at Ford Field.
Week 2
Sep 17
Arizona Win Projected – Most would expect a 2-0 start.
Week 3
Sep 24
N.Y. Giants Win Projected – Looking to duplicate last season’s thrilling OT win.
Week 4
Oct 1
@Chicago Win Projected – Expect a maximum effort before the bye in a Sunday night football game versus the Bears. Not an easy road game for sure, but a bit of a time zone advantage to the visitors who can afford to lay it all out on the line before the bye week.
Week 5
Oct 8
BYE 4-0 at the bye if these preseason predictions for the 2006 Seattle Seahawks hold up.
Week 6
Oct 15
@St. Louis Loss Projected – They swept the Rams last season, but the Rams swept them the season before. Flip flop trend could be in effect and the Seahawks could be rusty after their bye week as they head to the Edward Jones Dome.
Week 7
Oct 22
Minnesota Win Projected – Likely getting back on track with a win versus a team that will be out of their element playing away from the Metrodome.
Week 8
Oct 29
@Kansas City Loss Projected – Could drop one here as the Chiefs are likely to put forth a maximum effort at home in their quest to see how they stack up against 2005’s best of the NFC.
Week 9
Nov 6
Oakland Win Projected – Monday night football game versus a former division rival, and likely time to get back on track again.
Week 10
Nov 12
St. Louis Loss Projected – Playing on a short week could play to the advantage of the Rams and their aspirations to pay back for last season’s sweep.
Week 11
Nov 19
@San Francisco Win Projected – The 49ers gave the Seahawks a good game at Monster Park last season. Seattle is likely to be more alert this time around.
Week 12
Nov 27
Green Bay Win Projected – A good chance for another home win.
Week 13
Dec 3
@Denver Loss Projected – Difficult road game at Invesco Field as the Broncos will surely bring their best game to see if they can take down last season’s Super Bowl runner up.
Week 14
Dec 10
@Arizona Win Projected – Probably started the season expecting to sweep the Cardinals. Could be making good on it here.
Week 15
Dec 14
San Francisco Win Projected – This game takes place on Thursday night. The Seahawks could be going for the sweep.
Week 16
Dec 24
San Diego Win Projected – It remains to be seen whether the Chargers can play at the same level on offense with Rivers in place of Brees. If they can, this game could go the other way.
Week 17
Dec 31
@Tampa Bay Loss Projected – A possible playoff game in the final week of the regular season as home field advantage and playoff positioning could be at stake. Raymond James Stadium isn’t an easy place to win, especially after making such a long trip from Washington State to Florida.
