San Francisco 49ers 2013 Season Win Total Outlook & Projection:
2013 San Francisco 49ers Las Vegas Season Win Total Line;
As of this writing, oddsmakers have the 2013 regular season
win total over/under line
for the San Francisco 49ers set at 11 wins, the highest number of any NFC team.
This matches the number of wins San Francisco attained last season
with the 49ers going (11-4-1).
This number also represents
an increase of 1 win
compared to the 49ers’ regular season win total line of 10 from last preseason.
It’s interesting to note the 49ers had one of the easier schedules on paper
coming into last season on the heels of their (13-3) campaign, and at that time
their Vegas
win total line was set at 10 wins… Whereas this season, the ‘Niners have a much harder
schedule on
paper, and their Vegas win total over/under line has increased to 11 wins.
Clearly the Colin Kaepernick factor has driven the over/under line for season wins
higher, even in the face of a more difficult schedule on paper… Not to mention the injury
to WR Crabtree and loss of S Goldson in free agency.
The additions of WR Anquan Boldin, rookie FS Eric Reid, and K Phil Dawson
help to somewhat offset these losses.
2013 Schedule Analysis:
San Francisco is tied for 7th toughest schedule in the league in 2013.
Much of this toughness will play out in home games
as a closer look reveals
the 49ers have the toughest home schedule of any team
in the league, while having the 7th easiest road schedule,
which is certainly preferable to the other way around.
6 of 8 home games rank as difficult including;
Green Bay in week 1,
Indianapolis in week 3, Houston in week 5, St. Louis in week 13,
Seattle in week 14, and Atlanta in week 16.
Easier home games include Arizona in week 6, and Carolina in week 10– which is a long trip
for the Panthers.
As mentioned, the road schedule overall is much easier.
The so called easier contests include;
@Tennessee in week 7, @Jacksonville (in London) in week 8, at defenseless New Orleans in week 11,
and @Arizona in week 17. Although much of this travel will be tough.
More difficult road games include;
@Seattle in week 2, @St. Louis in week 4, @Washington in week 12, @Tampa Bay in week 15
wedged between home tilts with Seattle & Atlanta in weeks 14 & 16.
The Seahawks have key injuries on the defensive line, so the early week 2 road trip
to Seattle is an opportune time for the 49ers to get a leg up on the NFC’s
#2 Super Bowl favorite.
Overall the 49ers will face off 7 times versus teams that made the postseason
in the prior campaign… An increase of 2 such contests compared to last season’s
easier schedule.
Record Projection:
In 2013 we project the ‘Niners to go (13-3), topping the
Vegas season win total of 11 games.
Their schedule is tougher year over year.
But with tremendous coaching, a top notch defense, and a difficult to defend
QB who can score in a flash, the ‘Niners should be up to the task.
