San Francisco 49ers 2012 Season Win Total Outlook & Projection:
2012 San Francisco 49ers Las Vegas Season Win Total Line;
As of this writing, oddsmakers have the 2012 NFL regular season
win total line
for the San Francisco 49ers set at 10 wins.
This represents a decrease of 3 wins over San Francisco’s
prior season record of (13-3).
And it also represents an increase of 2.5 wins compared
to the 49ers’ regular season win total line from
last preseason.
Part of this line has to do with the fact that the 49ers offense
finished 26th in yards per game last season. If the 49ers offense
was more highly ranked, this win total line would be up there with
New England and Green Bay, especially considering
the 49ers top notch defense.
Can Alex Smith take his play up another notch this season?
Will the additions of wide receivers Mario Manningham,
Randy Moss, and A.J. Jenkins add the quick score threat to
the 49ers’ offensive attack?
Do the ‘Niners need the quick strike element to get to the Super Bowl?
No. They should have played in the big game last season.
Schedule Analysis:
In 2012 San Francisco will face off just five times versus teams that made the postseason
in the prior campaign;
That’s the same low number of contests versus returning playoff teams
compared to a season ago.
Other potentially competitive matchups include;
@NY Jets in week 4 (although a struggling offense), home to Buffalo in week 5 (improved defense),
home to the Giants in week 6, two tilts with Seattle (likely improved QB situation), @Arizona
week 8 (lost there last season), home to Chicago week 11 (could have been a playoff team last season
if not for Cutler’s injury and now add WR Marshall).
On the lighter side, the ‘Niners will of course suit up against the Rams twice, visit
Minnesota in week 3, and the home
game versus Arizona in week 17.
Overall we grade the 49ers schedule as tougher than the numbers show,
due to improvements made by Seattle, Chicago, and Buffalo.
Record Projection:
In 2012 we project the ‘Niners to go (12-4), topping the
Vegas season win total of 10 games.
With great coaching, a stacked defense, and the recent improved play of QB Alex Smith, the 49ers are a
threat to win everytime they suit up.
Of course there’s always the chance injuries could wreak havoc for the
49ers in the other direction.
