San Diego Chargers 2013 Season Win Total Outlook & Projection:
2013 San Diego Chargers Las Vegas Season Win Total Line;
As of this writing, oddsmakers have the 2013 NFL regular season
win total line
for the San Diego Chargers set at 7.5 wins.
This represents a decrease of 1.5 wins from San Diego’s
prior year season win total line of 9, which the Chargers
fell under, finishing with a record of (7-9).
Pundits everywhere are projecting the Chargers to implode in 2013. Forecasts everywhere call for
4 wins or less. Some even prognosticate the Chargers are candidates for the top pick
in next year’s NFL draft.
Such dire predictions seem plausible
on the surface considering San Diego’s disasterous situation on the offensive line
and at wide receiver. Additionally, the Chargers are weak in the secondary
and at starting running back.
On the plus side, the Chargers finished last season
with a top 10 defense that was #6 against the run.
And from weeks 11 to 13, the ‘Bolts played to within one score
of three playoff teams; Denver, Baltimore, and Cincinnati.
Another plus is in 2013, Philip Rivers should benefit from the addition of RB Danny
Woodhead who can provide a Sproles like presence.
The past two season Philip Rivers has been missing the Sproles “dump off pass” which bailed
him out of sacks and converted
so many 3rd downs to keep drives alive…
In 2013 look for Danny
Woodcock
uh, I mean Woodhead to perhaps be the most valuable player
for Philip Rivers.
Schedule Analysis:
In 2013 the Bolts find themselves with the 2nd easiest schedule in the league on paper
with the combined winning percentage of their opponents in the prior season
checking in at the .457 mark.
The Chargers will play 8 games versus teams that had 7 or fewer wins last season including;
Granted the first six of these are road contests. And several of the above teams have made key
improvements including; Tennessee beefing up their offensive
line, Miami improving their WR core with Mike Wallace, and of course the Chiefs upgrading their
quarterback position with Alex Smith.
Nonetheless, the Chargers should be able to win several of the above games.
The Chargers also play 6 games versus teams that made the playoffs last season– one
fewer than in the prior campaign.
- Houston in week 1
- Indianapolis in week 6
- @Washington in week 9
- Denver in week 10
- Cincinnati in week 13
- @Denver in week 15
One would think the Chargers in their current state should struggle in the above contests
Other competitive matchups include two home games;
Dallas in week 4, and NY Giants in week 14.
Record Projection:
In 2013 we project the Chargers to go (6-10), falling under the Las
Vegas season win total of 7.5 games.
However, there’s a reason the Chargers’ season win odds
are 7.5 in spite of so many dire projections in the media. Simply put, their
schedule is a breeze. So it would not surprise us if the Chargers jump
up and top this number.
