"NFL Picks, Predictions,

2006 NFL Projection:
The Chargers offense fired on all cylinders under Brees. Anytime a team replaces a top performer with a new, untested starter, there’s a risk of taking a step backwards. One positive for the Chargers the lighter schedule compared to Denver and Kansas City. Yet one has to beware of penciling in too many wins for the Chargers before seeing whether the offense can jell under Rivers the way it did under Brees.

Of course like Brees, Rivers will enjoy the benefit of a tremendous supporting cast… Chargers fans shouldn’t overly worry about the projected record and season predictions below, as there is plenty of room to surprise if Rivers is able to pick up where Brees left off.

San Diego Chargers 2006 NFL Predictions

Week 1
Sep 11
@Oakland Loss Projected – As a first time starter at QB playing on the road, Rivers could find some difficulty even with the great supporting cast. The later of two Monday Night football games on the 11th.
Week 2
Sep 17
Tennessee Win Projected – A favorable home opener versus a Titans team that surrendered the second most points in the AFC last season. The Chargers will be coming off a short week, but expect a maximum team effort heading into the early season bye, especially if they’re 0-1 coming into the game.
Week 3
Sep 24
BYE 1-1 at the bye if these preseason predictions for the 2006 San Diego Chargers prove accurate.
Week 4
Oct 1
@Baltimore Loss Projected – The offense might not have jelled under its new QB yet, and overall could be a little rusty coming out of the bye. The opponent has its own new starting QB, but with years of experience under the belt.
Week 5
Oct 8
Pittsburgh Loss Projected – A tough Sunday night game versus the champs who come in as a solid road performing team that got the win visiting Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego last season.
Week 6
Oct 15
@San Francisco Win Projected – If the Chargers are going to make the playoffs in 2006, hopefully this won’t be their first road win (assuming the game goes their way).
Week 7
Oct 22
@Kansas City Loss Projected – No picnic playing the Chiefs on the road.
Week 8
Oct 29
St. Louis Win Projected – Catching a great dome team outdoors is almost always preferable to catching a great dome team indoors.
Week 9
Nov 5
Cleveland Win Projected – A must win home game.
Week 10
Nov 12
@Cincinnati Loss Projected – One of the many tough road games on the second half schedule.
Week 11
Nov 19
@Denver Loss Projected – Another difficult road contest for just about any team.
Week 12
Nov 26
Oakland Win Projected – Must win home game versus the fourth place finisher in the division in 2005. Could be playing for a split if the Chargers were unable to get the week 1 win on the road.
Week 13
Dec 3
@Buffalo Loss Projected – A long trip to a cold playing field is rarely an easy affair.
Week 14
Dec 10
Denver Win Projected – Time for a big home win if the offense is fully jelled under Rivers.
Week 15
Dec 17
Kansas City Win Projected – And perhaps another.
Week 16
Dec 24
@Seattle Loss Projected – The Seahawks will likely need this game for postseason positioning.
Week 17
Dec 31
Arizona Win Projected – A maximum effort for the home town faithful. If no playoff trip is in the cards, at least give the fans some reasons for off season excitement.
