2006 NFL Projection:
The Raiders come into 2006 after a season where their defense surrendered the third most points in the AFC. Even if the offense jells quickly under new quarterback Aaron Brooks, the defense needs to improve to boost last season’s record, especially in the high scoring AFC West.

Oakland Raiders 2006 NFL Predictions

Week 1
Sep 11
San Diego Win Projected – Hosting a visiting quarterback’s first NFL game as a starter is usually a good thing. The Raiders will be starting their own new quarterback, but Brooks has plenty of game experience. The second of two Monday Night football games on the 11th.
Week 2
Sep 17
@Baltimore Loss Projected – Road wins could be hard to come by, especially traveling on a short week.
Week 3
Sep 24
BYE 1-1 at the bye if these preseason predictions for the 2006 Oakland Raiders hold up.
Week 4
Oct 1
Cleveland Win Projected – Can’t afford any rust after the bye. Gave up a home loss to the Browns only six regular season games ago. Two home losses to the same out of division team in seven regular season games might be too much for the loyal fans to bear.
Week 5
Oct 8
@San Francisco Loss Projected – Not as easy as it looks. The 49ers turned in four impressive performances at home last season including victories over Tampa Bay and St. Louis, and near victories over Seattle and Dallas.
Week 6
Oct 15
@Denver Loss Projected – Sunday night game versus one of the toughest teams of 2005. Odds are the Raiders will be heavy underdogs in this matchup.
Week 7
Oct 22
Arizona Loss Projected – While it’s a good chance for a home victory, they could get caught looking ahead to the champions next week.
Week 8
Oct 29
Pittsburgh Loss Projected – A maximum effort versus the 2005 champs. But it may not be enough versus a solid road team.
Week 9
Nov 6
@Seattle Loss Projected – Not an easy road to victory on Monday night, especially after laying it all out on the home field against the champs.
Week 10
Nov 12
Denver Loss Projected – The Broncos could be playing for a sweep. It’s the Raiders third brutal game in a row and they’re on a short week to boot.
Week 11
Nov 19
@Kansas City Loss Projected – To win games at Arrowhead Stadium the defense needs to improve year over year.
Week 12
Nov 26
@San Diego Loss Projected – The Chargers defense gave up approximately 4.4 fewer points per game last season compared to the Raiders. That could be enough to get San Diego the win even with the less experienced new team quarterback.
Week 13
Dec 3
Houston Win Projected – Victories could be few and far between in 2006.
Week 14
Dec 10
@Cincinnati Loss Projected – Their fifth very tough road game since week 6.
Week 15
Dec 17
St. Louis Loss Projected – Chance for a victory versus a Rams team that doesn’t always travel well. But the Rams might need this game to stay in the playoff chase.
Week 16
Dec 23
Kansas City Loss Projected – A maximum effort to derail any playoff hopes sported by the Chiefs in this Saturday night football game. But it could be a tale of teams headed in opposite directions.
Week 17
Dec 31
@N.Y. Jets Loss Projected – A long trip to a cold field. Draft positioning could be on the line.
