New York Jets 2007 NFL Projection:
Last season the Jets put together a 10-6 campaign,
far exceeding our expectations, including compiling an impressive record of
6-2 on the road thanks to some great coaching and a couple of receivers who really
leave their hearts on the field (Coles and Cotchery).
In 2007 the Jets find a schedule that includes a whopping 7 games versus teams
that made the playoffs in 2006, thanks mostly to drawing the NFC East which fielded three playoff teams last season.
However the Jets have a sharp coach in Eric Mangini who has the team on the same page.
Mangini made solid draft picks on the offensive line in Ferguson and Mangold last year, and wasn’t afraid to
trade up to get the players
he wanted in 2007 for the defense
(Revis and Harris). We believe these will prove to be smart bets for the Jets.
Meanwhile, we can only applaud the pickup of Thomas Jones, someone who can clearly perform in inclement weather.
During Jones’ final three seasons in Chicago he
started all but three games, and averaged over 4 yards per carry. We think he’ll be a solid
performer for the Jets. Overall, we’re predicting a repeat of last season’s (10-6), in spite of the schedule difficulty.
But making the playoffs is likely to be very tough in the AFC this year.
