New Orleans Saints 2013 Season Win Total Outlook & Projection:
2013 New Orleans Saints Las Vegas Season Win Total Line;
As of this writing, oddsmakers have the 2013
regular season win total line
for the New Orleans Saints set at 9 wins. This is 1 fewer win
compared to last season’s Vegas win total line.
However this number also represents an increase of 2 wins over New Orleans’ prior season
record of (7-9).
Of course a major factor affecting this line is the return of coach Payton.
The betting public is convinced the combination of Payton & Brees
will get the Saints back to at least 1 game over the .500 mark.
On the downside, the Saints are weak at defensive line, linebacker, and secondary.
They suffered several injuries
including Smith, Coleman, and Butler.
The Saints are also thin at wide receiver, and there’s inexperience at the left tackle spot.
Additionally, the Saints are slated to face the 3rd toughest schedule in the league in 2013
with the winning % of their opponents checking in at .539.
Schedule Analysis:
In 2013 the Saints will square off just 5 times against playoff teams from a season ago.
This number seems low given the Saints strength of schedule.
The strength of the above teams cannot be denied.
Other competitive matchups include;
- @Tampa Bay in week 2 (Addition of CB Revis)
- Miami in week 4 (Gave up just 317 points last season)
- @Chicago in week 5 (Finished 10-6, yet missed playoffs)
- Dallas in week 10 (A .500 team bit by defensive injury bug last season)
- Carolina in week 14 (Swept New Orleans last season)
- @St. Louis in week 15 (Went 4-1-1 in the NFC West last season)
- @Carolina in week 16 (Swept New Orleans last season)
- Tampa Bay in week 17 (Addition of CB Revis)
Record Projection:
In 2013 we project the Saints to go (7-9), falling short of the
Vegas win total of 9 games. In fact, this could be generous considering
the state of the Saints’ defense.
Naturally, with such a strong QB in Brees, and strong interior of offensive line,
and receivers like Coltson, Graham, Moore, and Sproles,
there is certainly the chance of the offense bailing out the defense
all season long and creating upside to this projection… Nonetheless,
the Saints’ schedule is formidable. And we like some of the improvements
made by division rivals Tampa Bay & Carolina.
