2006 NFL Projection:
The Saints have great potential on offense. The sooner the team can jell under Brees the more noise New Orleans can make in their division. It will be interesting to see how Bush fairs at the pro level.

Unfortunately, the Saints find one of the toughest schedules in the league this season consisting of eleven games versus teams that finished at .500 or better in 2005; thanks to playing in the very competitive NFC South, and thanks to landing additional games versus Washington, Cincinnati, @Dallas, @NY Giants, and @Pittsburgh… Perhaps a two year plan should be in effect for new head coach Sean Payton… First get the offense jelling in 2006. Then commit 100% to improving the defense in 2007. Then a shift could start to take place in the NFC South.

New Orleans Saints 2006 NFL Predictions

Week 1
Sep 10
@Cleveland Loss Projected – Certainly a winnable road game on paper. But Cleveland had some moments at home last season.
Week 2
Sep 17
@Green Bay Win Projected – Two road games to start the season. Going 1-1 would be a good start. And the Saints do remember last season’s game at Lambeau.
Week 3
Sep 25
Atlanta Loss Projected – A Monday night football matchup with the Falcons. Splitting with Atlanta would probably be acceptable in 2006. But the new offense might not yet have jelled by week 3. The defense has surrendered an average of 401.5 points over the last two seasons, which could prove the difference maker in this matchup.
Week 4
Oct 1
@Carolina Loss Projected – In the middle of a tough three game run, playing on a short week won’t bode well for winning in Carolina.
Week 5
Oct 8
Tampa Bay Loss Projected – The tail end of a tough three game run. If the offense is jelling and the defense turns in a top performance, they could get the in division upset
Week 6
Oct 15
Philadelphia Win Projected – A maximum effort before the bye could help get the win versus a team that will be coming off a very emotional game versus Terrell Owens and his new team, the Dallas Cowboys, ripe for a let down.
Week 7
Oct 22
BYE 2-4 at the bye if these preseason predictions for the 2006 New Orleans Saints prove accurate.
Week 8
Oct 29
Baltimore Win Projected – A winnable home game, but can’t afford any rust after the bye week.
Week 9
Nov 5
@Tampa Bay Loss Projected – Could be playing to avoid the sweep.
Week 10
Nov 12
@Pittsburgh Loss Projected – It’s unlikely that the defense will be ready to pull off an upset victory on the road versus the Super Bowl champs.
Week 11
Nov 19
Cincinnati Loss Projected – The tail end of another difficult three game run. This game is likely to mean everything to the Bengals, who have their own very difficult schedule in 2006 and will likely need every game they can get to make the playoffs.
Week 12
Nov 26
@Atlanta Loss Projected – The tail game of a tough four game run. Could be playing to avoid a sweep.
Week 13
Dec 3
San Francisco Win Projected – Likely a good chance for a home win versus a defense that surrendered 428 points in 2005.
Week 14
Dec 10
@Dallas Loss Projected – First game of a grueling last quarter of the season as Coach Payton faces his former team.
Week 15
Dec 17
Washington Loss Projected – Wins may be hard to come by with this schedule. And the Redskins played very well indoors in 2005.
Week 16
Dec 24
@N.Y. Giants Loss Projected – Cold and out of their element.
Week 17
Dec 31
Carolina Loss Projected – Might not have as much to play for as the Panthers who will probably need to this game for playoff positioning. Could play the spoiler.
