Miami Dolphins 2012 Season Win Total Outlook & Projection:
2012 Miami Dolphins Las Vegas Season Win Total Line;
As of this writing, oddsmakers have the 2012 NFL regular season
win total betting line
for the Miami Dolphins set at 6.5 wins. The line had opened at 7.5 wins, but has since fallen.
The current number represents a decrease of 1 win from Miami’s
prior year season win total line of 7.5, which the Dolphins missed
going (6-10) last season.
When it comes to this line, much like last season, there are opposite forces at work.
The Dolphins’ defense is solid up front and in the middle. Although the secondary will
be missing some familiar faces with the departure of Yeremiah Bell and Vontae Davis.
On the other side of the ball the Dolphins will of course be starting roookie QB Ryan Tannehill.
Meanwhile, the wide receiver core took a hit with the trading of Brandon Marshall.
To make matters worse, Miami is currently banged up and thin on the OL.
Schedule Analysis:
In 2012 the ‘Phins will play 5 games versus returning playoff squads from a season ago…
This is a reduction of 1 such game compared to a season ago. And is a fairly low number.
As you may have noticed, 80% of these games are on the road which certainly doesn’t bode well for a rookie
quarterback.
Other potentially competitive matchups include;
home to NY Jets in week 3, @Arizona in week 4, @NY Jets in week 8,
home to Tennessee in week 10, @Buffalo in week 11 (improved defense),
home to Seattle in week 12, and home to Buffalo in week 16.
Easier contests on paper include the following four games;
home to Oakland in week 2, home to St. Louis in week 6,
@Indianapolis in week 9, and home to Jacksonville in week 15.
Record Projection:
In 2012 we now project the ‘Fins to go (4-12), a slight upgrade from our opening projection, but missing the Las
Vegas season win total of 6.5 games. Miami’s defense may keep them
in games, but in a passing league,
the offense is likely
to struggle mightily… But if they find a groove, they could certainly top our low prediction.
