Miami Dolphins 2007 NFL Projection:
New head coach Cam Cameron
has his work cut out for him as half of the games the Dolphins play in 2007 are against teams that made the
playoffs in 2006, as follows…
That’s an extremely tough slate of games for a squad coming off a 6-10 campaign.
Throw in additional matchups at Pittsburgh and versus Cincinnati, and it’s tough to get overly excited
about the Miami Dolphins’ prospects in 2007.
Fortunately the Dolphins sport a top notch defense which surrendered the fifth fewest
points in the NFL in 2006, and now adds Joey Porter. The defense is certainly strong enough to lead Miami to
a fair number of
wins.
On offense, Trent Green put up impressive numbers playing in Kansas
City behind an amazing offense line and running game to boot. But playing against this slate of teams
we think he’ll have a much
more difficult time succeeding in the defensively tough AFC East, which has for the most part been
the toughest defensive division in the
NFL for a good portion of the last twelve or thirteen years, with only a handful of quarterbacks able to achieve
long term success; Tom Brady, Drew Bledsoe, Peyton Manning, Jim Kelly, and Dan Marino.
Throw in the fact that
while in K.C. Trent Green historically threw to his tight end (Tony Gonzalez),
and now he comes to Miami just as Randy McMichael exits. The loss of Wes Welker to New England is likely to hurt
too as he was tied with Chris Chambers for team lead in receptions of 20 yards or more in 2006.
Overall we’re predicting
a (9-7) campaign for the 2007 Dolphins. We feel the offense will leave the defense on the field a little too often
versus the tougher teams on the schedule, of which there are many in 2007.
