Jacksonville Jaguars 2013 Season Win Total Outlook & Projection:
2013 Jacksonville Jaguars Las Vegas Season Win Total Line;
As of this writing, oddsmakers have the 2013 NFL regular season
win total line
for the Jacksonville Jaguars set at 5 wins.
This number represents a decrease of 1/2 win from Jacksonville’s
prior year season win total line of 5.5 which
the Jaguars went under
with a record of (2-14).
The Jaguars are coming off a season in which they posted the second worse net point differential
in the league, surrendering 189 more points than they scored. The ‘Jags were outscored by
an average of nearly 12 points per game.
Of course, the foot injury sustained by Maurice Jones-Drew didn’t
help matters… His return, and the addition of 1st round pick
Luke Joeckel on the offensive line are major keys.
And we’ll see what new coach Gus Bradley brings.
Last season’s emergence of WR Cecil Shorts is also encouraging. His numbers
projected over 16 starts are eye opening.
But the Jaguars have a major question at QB with Blaine Gabbert.
So far he has been unable to cut it at the pro level.
Furthermore, the Jaguars are weak on defensive line, linebacker, and in the secondary.
Not to mention WR Justin Blackmon is out with a suspension.
Schedule Analysis:
In 2013 the Jaguars find themselves with a slightly more difficult strength of schedule than a season ago,
with the combined winning percentage of their opponents
checking in at .508.
The ‘Jags will play 7 contests versus teams that made the playoffs last season.
This is an increase of 1 such game compared to a season ago;
Other potentially difficult matchups for the Jaguars in their current state include;
- Kansas City in week 1 (Quarterback upgrade with Alex Smith)
- @St. Louis in week 5 (Went 4-1-1 in the NFC West last season)
- San Diego in week 7 (Even net point differential last season)
- @Tennessee in week 10 (Improved offensive line – now top 10 or better)
- @Cleveland in week 13 (cold weather game versus an improved team)
- Tennessee in week 16
Lighter competition in 2013 includes;
@Oakland in week 2, Arizona in week 11, and Buffalo in week 15.
Record Projection:
In 2013 we now project the Jaguars to go (3-13), a slight upgrade
from our opening projection, yet still falling under the
Vegas season win total of 5 wins.
The ‘Jags have are a handful of winnable games on paper. And their offense may
be improved. But the
defense is unlikely to step up enough in 2013.
