Jacksonville Jaguars 2011 Season Win Total Outlook & Projection:
2011 Jacksonville Jaguars Las Vegas Season Win Total Line;
Oddsmakers had the regular season
win total betting line for the Jacksonville Jaguars set at 6.5 wins
before the Jags surprisingly released QB David Garrard,
with plans to start Luke McCown until rookie QB
Blaine Gabbert is ready (or until the Jaguars’ record is poor enough
to throw the season away).
The line has since been taken off the board at some shops, while
others have added heafty juice for those betting under the total.
The 6.5 number was a decrease of 1.5 wins compared to Jacksonville’s
record of (8-8) in the prior campaign.
It seems oddsmakers were already down on the Jaguars’
prospects for 2011… And why not?
After all the Jaguars were very poor defensively in
the prior season, and now find themselves tied with
a handful of teams for the 3rd toughest schedule
on paper in ’11.
Schedule Analysis:
In 2011 the ‘Jags will play 7 contests versus teams that made the playoffs last season.
This is an increase of 2 such games compared to the previous season;
That’s quite a stiff near half season above.
Other potentially difficult matchups include;
@Houston in week 8, @Cleveland in week 11, Houston in week 12,
San Diego in week 13, Tampa Bay in week 14, and @Tennessee in week 16.
Lighter competition in 2011 includes;
@Carolina in week 3, and Cincinnati in week 5.
Overall we forecast the Jaguars having their hands full in approximately
75% of their games in ’11.
Record Projection:
In 2011 we project the Jaguars to go (4-12), falling shy of the
Vegas season win total of 6.5 games.
Of course if the defense were to turn around and/or
injuries wreaked havoc on division
rivals, there might be some upside to this projection.
