Indianapolis Colts 2012 Season Win Total Outlook & Projection:
2012 Indianapolis Colts Las Vegas Season Win Total Line;
As of this writing, oddsmakers have the 2012 NFL regular season
win total line
for the Indianapolis Colts set at 5.5 wins.
This number represents a decrease of 4 wins from Indianapolis’
prior year regular season win total line of 9.5 (which was taken
off the board on the Peyton Manning news). The Colts went way under the number
finishing with a record of (2-14)… This year’s
season win total line is 3.5 wins higher than last season’s finish.
Schedule Analysis:
In 2012 the Colts find themselves with a middle of the road strength of schedule
with the combined winning percentage of their opponents in the prior year
checking in at the .500 mark.
In 2012 the Colts will play just 5 games versus teams that made the playoffs a year ago.
This is a decrease of 1 such matchup compared to the previous season;
Most of these games come toward the end of the season which gives the Colts’ offense time to gel
under rookie QB Andrew Luck.
Two additional contests jump out versus teams we expect to be playoff caliber.
@Chicago in week 1. The Bears are a team that likely would
have made playoffs last year if not for QB Jay Cutler’s injury. Furthermore, Chicago added WR Brandon Marshall…
And home to Buffalo in week 12 (improved defense added Mario Williams).
Meanwhile, road contests @NY Jets in week 6, and @Kansas City in week 16 project as
upper echelon defenses… These teams are projected by
others to make the postseason. And are likely to cause trouble for the Colt’s restructuring offense line.
Two tilts with Tennessee can also be categorized as near to above average competition.
Meanwhile, lighter competition includes;
home to Minnesota in week 2, home to Jacksonville in week 3,
home to Cleveland in week 7, home to Miami in week 9,
and @Jacksonville in week 10.
Record Projection:
In 2012 we project the Colts to go (3-13), falling shy of the
Vegas season win total line of 5.5 games.
While the Colts have a tremendous young QB talent, they also parted ways with the longest list of key
players I’ve ever seen. Meanwhile, they’re asking Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis to switch to outside
linebacker in a defensive philosophy switch. It will be interesting to see them in pass coverage.
And perhaps nothing is as bad as giving up 430 points overall like last season.
