2006 NFL Projection:
One of the tougher schedules the Colts have faced in recent campaigns since having the good fortune of leaving the AFC East in the league realignment. The 2006 schedule sports nine games versus teams that finished at .500 or better in 2005 including;

While the Colts aren’t likely to be playing for an undefeated season in 2006 with this season’s tough schedule, they should still be able to attain at least a Wild Card berth as they duel with Jacksonville for first place in the AFC South, while of course holding greater visions of the Super Bowl in mind. However, the schedule is tough enough where the Colts could find their window of opportunity closing up with perhaps no trip to the playoffs at all.

The addition of Adam Vinatieri is likely to improve clutch kicking. But oddly enough, Vinatieri hasn’t had the best success kicking indoors throughout his career.

Indianapolis Colts 2006 NFL Predictions

Week 1
Sep 10
@N.Y. Giants Loss Projected – Which quarterback wants this Sunday night football game more? The well seasoned pro or his up and coming brother? Just one of five brutal road games on the Colts schedule in 2006.
Week 2
Sep 17
Houston Win Projected – Time to get the first home win.
Week 3
Sep 24
Jacksonville Win Projected – The Jaguars have come as close as any team to becoming the Colts regular season nemesis. As luck would have it, this week 3 meeting isn’t in the Florida heat, it’s at the RCA Dome. And the road contest won’t take place until December.
Week 4
Oct 1
@N.Y. Jets Win Projected – Looking to go on cruise control versus a former division rival suddenly in rebuild mode.
Week 5
Oct 8
Tennessee Win Projected – Likely to remain in cruise mode, accumulating another win before the bye.
Week 6
Oct 15
BYE 4-1 at the bye if these preseason predictions for the 2006 Indianapolis Colts prove worthy.
Week 7
Oct 22
Washington Loss Projected – Could be rusty coming out of the bye versus a solid team who will be playing before their own bye, giving it everything they have. A tough spot to be in.
Week 8
Oct 29
@Denver Win Projected – The Colts could use a big road win here with a trip to New England on deck.
Week 9
Nov 5
@New England Loss Projected – The Colts face their least favorite team & place to play in this Sunday night football showdown at Gillette Stadium. But Adam Vinatieri could change much of that as he certainly likes to kick there.
Week 10
Nov 12
Buffalo Win Projected – Could be another win versus a former division foe in rebuild mode.
Week 11
Nov 19
@Dallas Loss Projected – The tail end of what’s probably the toughest five game stretch the Colts have played in years, even though it did include one team that finished 2005 at 5-11 (Buffalo).
Week 12
Nov 26
Philadelphia Win Projected – With as many as four projected losses if these preseason projections have held up, suddenly every game could take on a new importance.
Week 13
Dec 3
@Tennessee Win Projected – Technically a must win road game with a trip to Jacksonville looming.
Week 14
Dec 10
@Jacksonville Loss Projected – The Colts toughest schedule in years, but likely their last loss if these preseason NFL predictions ring true.
Week 15
Dec 18
Cincinnati Win Projected – Last season’s meeting versus the Bengals was a wild affair. This year the teams meet in a Monday night game with a possible playoff spot on the line for each team.
Week 16
Dec 24
@Houston Win Projected – Likely needing to win out, the Colts will be playing on a short week.
Week 17
Dec 31
Miami Win Projected – Could be for a playoff spot for either team. The Dolphins will be out of their element in the RCA Dome, but the Colts defense should beware as Culpepper has plenty of experience playing indoors.
