Green Bay Packers 2013 Season Win Total Outlook & Projection:
2013 Green Bay Packers Las Vegas Season Win Total Line;
As of this writing, oddsmakers have the 2013 NFL regular season
win total betting line
for the Green Bay Packers set at 10.5 wins.
This number represents a decrease of 1/2 win
from the Packers prior year mark of (11-5)… 10.5 wins is also one win
lower than last season’s win total line of 11.5.
There are several factors which caused the drop in the season win total line
compared to last season’s number.
One of which is weakness on the offensive line.
To cope, the Packers planned to play musical chairs in 2013
in an effort to align the best lineman at the most important
spots. Unfortunately, the loss of LT Bryan Bulaga for the season
threw a wrench into that plan.
The departure of WR Greg Jennings to division
rival Minnesota affects the season win total line
negatively… Not to mention both Minnesota & Chicago finishing
with double digit wins last season.
On the defensive side of the ball,
Green Bay needs to do a better job of stopping the run. The Packers
finishied 17th in the league overall in ’12, against what was the second
easiest strength of schedule on paper coming into the season.
In 2013 the combined winning % of Green Bay’s
opponents (based on last season’s numbers)
checks in at .533, which is much stiffer compared to last season’s schedule on paper
coming into the season.
On the plus side, Green Bay addressed some needs in the draft
with picks DE Datone Jones and RB Eddie Lacy.
Schedule Analysis:
In 2013 the Packers will play 7 games versus teams that made the playoffs in the previous
season. This is an increase of 1 such contest compared to the prior season.
As you can see, the first three games of the season come against playoff squads,
which is far from ideal considering Green Bay’s offensive line woes.
Furthermore, not to be discounted are the Chicago Bears, a team which missed the postseason
while finishing (10-6).
Other potentially stiff competition includes; @NY Giants in week 11, @Dallas in week 15,
and Pittsburgh in week 16.
That grades as 12/16 games or 3/4 of the schedule versus quality opponents…
And we haven’t even considered whether the Lions can bounce back from a disappointing
season.
Record Projection:
In 2013 we now once again project the Packers to go (10-6), still falling shy of the
Vegas season win total of 10.5 games… This is an upgrade following an initial downgrade from our
opening projection.
The bottom line is Green Bay’s
schedule is much tougher compared to a season ago. And we’re concerned about
how the offensive line will perform against a tougher slate of opponents.
But Rodgers is Rodgers.
