Green Bay Packers 2010 NFL Projection:
“SWOT analysis” of the 2010 Packers (including strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and
threats) followed by the FootballLOCKS.com classic schedule analysis
and a record projection summary.
Strengths:
QB Aaron Rodgers, receiver depth (WR Greg Jennings, WR Donald Driver, WR James Jones,
WR Jordy Nelson, TE Jermichael Finley), passing offense, RT Mark Tauscher,
defensive coordinator Dom Capers, rush defense, pass defense,
DL Ryan Pickett, OLB Clay Mathews, CB Charles Woodson, FS Nick Collins.
Weaknesses:
Offensive line pass blocking, punting, OLB depth, DL depth, and CB depth.
Opportunities:
A healthy NT B.J. Raji adds further clogging ability to the defensive line.
1st round draft pick Bryan Bulaga could
help improve pass blocking.
Division rival Minnesota WR Sidney Rice out for at least half the season.
Threats:
Minnesota QB Brett Favre.
Loss of DE Johnny Jolly for the year (suspension),
CB Al Harris still recovering from a torn ACL, offensive line health (tackles),
can K Mason Crosby bounce back from an off year?
Schedule Analysis:
In 2010 the Packers will play just 6 games versus teams that made the playoffs the previous
season.
Other potentially competitive matchups include;
It’s certainly not the toughest schedule faced by a returning playoff team…
Of interest is the fact that Green Bay’s first 5 opponents
are teams with offensive line woes; @Philadelphia, Buffalo,
@Chicago, Detroit, @Washington… This bodes well for Green Bay
considering their lack of depth on the heels of Jolly’s suspension.
Record Projection:
In 2010 we now project the Packers to go (13-3), a slight upgrade
following an initial downgrade
from our opening projection.
A dynamic offense and top rate defense make Green Bay one of the top
contenders for Super Bowl XLV.
