Dallas Cowboys 2011 Season Win Total Outlook & Projection:
2011 Dallas Cowboys Las Vegas Season Win Total Line;
Oddsmakers currently have the regular season
win total betting line for the Dallas Cowboys set at 9 wins…
This represents an increase of 3 wins from the Cowboys’
prior year regular season mark of (6-10)
and is tied with Houston for the largest jump from any team’s
’10 record.
Of course the major piece of this win total line has to
do with QB Tony Romo returning from a season ending
fractured clavicle.
But we sense oddsmakers viewing the window of opportunity in
Dallas closing ever so slightly. Nearly 1/3 of the league
is installed with a higher win total number in 2011.
Part of this thinking is likely due to transition on the
offensive line, which is no longer a beast.
Schedule Analysis:
In 2011 Dallas will play 5 games versus teams that made the postseason last year.
This represents a decrease of 2 such games compared to the previous season.
Of course, the Seahawks in their current form can essentially be removed from the above list.
Although @Tampa Bay in week 15 could essentially be added (a team on the playoff bubble with 10 wins).
7 other potentially competitive matchups on paper include;
Washington in week 3 (looking much improved this preseason),
Detroit in week 4 (also looking improved this preseason), St. Louis in week 7 (yet another
team on the rise),
@Washington in week 11, Miami in week 12 (solid defense), NY Giants in week 14,
the aforementioned @Tampa Bay in week 15,
and @NY Giants in week 17… The Cowboys will play host in
five of these 8 mid-level competition games.
Lighter competition includes;
@San Francisco in week 2, Seattle in week 9, Buffalo in week 10, and
@Arizona in week 13.
Record Projection:
In 2011 we project the Cowboys to go (8-8), falling shy of the
Vegas season win total of 9 games.
Of course with stars like Romo, Austin, and Ware there is certainly potential
for upside.
But we have questions abound the o-line’s ability to protect
Romo for the full ’11 season.
