Cleveland Browns 2010 NFL Projection:
“SWOT analysis” of the 2010 Browns (including strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and
threats) followed by the FootballLOCKS.com classic schedule analysis
and a record projection summary.
Strengths:
Josh Cribbs, kickoff returns, punt returns, special teams,
kickoff coverage, punt coverage, K Phil Dawson, offensive line run blocking (LG Eric Steinbach,
LT Joe Thomas), CB Eric Wright, OLB Matt Roth, RB depth, NT Shaun Rogers.
Weaknesses:
Defending the run, defending the pass, offensive passing,
offensive line (right side), receiver core, QB, inside linebacker.
Opportunities:
Can C Alex Mack get even better and give the Browns a truly top notch 3 in a row on the O-line?
Can RB Jerome Harrison keep up the production seen late last season?
Improved secondary. CB Sheldon Brown. Top 2 draft picks CB Joe Hayden (Florida)
and S T.J. Ward (Oregon). Veteran QB Jake Delhomme should improve the passing
game, which shouldn’t be that hard to do compared to last season’s numbers.
Getting Josh Cribbs more involved in the offense.
Threats:
NT Shaun Rogers health. QB Jake Delhomme’s interceptions.
Three playoff caliber division rivals (Baltimore, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh).
Cincinnati’s acquisition of WR Terrell Owens and
Baltimore’s acquisition of WR’s T.J. Houshmandzadeh & Anquan Boldin.
Schedule Analysis:
In 2010 Cleveland will play 7 games versus teams that made the playoffs
a season ago;
That’s not to mention games versus other teams expected to pose stiff competition;
Record Projection:
Overall we project the Browns to go (2-14) in 2010.
This year’s schedule is stiff. And
the easy schedule the Browns faced in the last 3 weeks of last season (when they grabbed wins against
other struggling teams)
does not present in 2010– as the Browns face all three division rivals in the final three games.
And we don’t quite see them upsetting the Steelers again…
