Cincinnati Bengals 2013 Season Win Total Outlook & Projection:
2013 Cincinnati Bengals Las Vegas Season Win Total Line;
As of this writing, oddsmakers have the 2013 NFL regular season
win total line
for the Cincinnati Bengals set at 8.5 wins.
This number represents an increase of 1/2 win from Cincinnati’s
prior year regular season win total line of 8, which the Bengals
topped with a record of (10-6), as we projected,
good for 2nd place in the AFC North, as we also projected.
The 8.5 number also represents a decrease of 1.5 wins from last season’s
(10-6) mark.
What does 2013 hold?
Everyone knows the Bengals have a tremendous defensive line led
by Geno Atkins, an amazing WR in A. J. Green,
a solid offensive line, solid secondary,
solid QB as well, and have added James Harrison to the linebacking core.
As a result, the Bengals are a trendy pick to top the Vegas season win
over/under line of 8.5.
Further fueling enthusiasm for the Bengals in 2013 are
draft picks TE Tyler Eifert and RB Giovani Bernard.
On the downside, the loss of cover LB Emmanuel Lamur
is likely to hurt Cincy’s pass defense.
Schedule Analysis:
In 2013 the Bengals find themselves with a Jekyll and Hyde schedule.
While their strength of schedule overall is slightly above middle of the road,
they will play the 5th toughest home schedule with the combined
winning percentage of their opponenets checking in at .570.
This is the result of 5 home games scheduled versus teams making
the playoffs last season;
- Green Bay in week 3
- New England in week 5
- Indianapolis in week 14
- Minnesota in week 16
- Baltimore in week 17
One might also add Pittsburgh in week 2
to the above list
of tough home games.
The remaining and easier home games include;
NY Jets in week 8, and Cleveland in week 11.
Because the Bengals have a middle of the road strength of schedule
that turns exceedingly difficult in home games, it only makes sense they
will play one of the easier road schedules.
5 of 8 road games come against teams finishing below .500 last season;
- @Cleveland in week 4
- @Buffalo in week 6
- @Detroit in week 7
- @Miami in week 9
- @San Diego in week 13
The remaining tougher road games include;
@Chicago in week 1, @Baltimore in week 8 (the sole road game versus a
returning playoff team), and @Pittsburgh in week 15.
Clearly to be successful in 2013,
the Bengals need to take care of business against the sub .500 teams on the road, and in the two
easier games at home.
That’s 7 potential wins…
In fact, 6 of Cincinnati’s 10 wins last season came against teams in disarray including;
@Jacksonville, Cleveland, @Kansas City, Oakland, San Diego, and @Philadelphia.
Record Projection:
In 2013 we project the Bengals to go (11-5), topping the Las
Vegas season win total of 8.5 games.
Note, there’s always the chance injuries could wreak havoc
on this projection.
