Chicago Bears 2013 Season Win Total Outlook & Projection:
2013 Chicago Bears Las Vegas Season Win Total Line;
As of this writing, oddsmakers have the 2013 NFL regular season
win total betting line
for the Chicago Bears set at 8.5 wins.
This represents a decrease of 1.5 wins from Chicago’s
prior year regular season mark of (10-6). And it also represents a
decrease of 1 win from last season’s win total line of 9.5.
A major factor for this season win total
line drop has to do with the Bears’ weak offensive line.
Granted there’s a new system in place with Trestman asking QB Jay Cutler to get the
ball out quicker, that also emphasizes a run blocking scheme designed to give RB Matt Forte
the power to use his great vision to determine where to cut.
Furthermore, LT Bushrod was added from the Saints, and G Long in the draft (a pick
many believe was a major reach). Can the new system help compensate
for the lack of talent up front and reduce sacks?
Other factors affecting the line are the retirement of LB Brian Urlacher,
and the age of an otherwise excellent defense.
The Bears will also face a slightly tougher schedule on paper than a season
ago, although it’s the easiest schedule in the NFC North.
Schedule Analysis:
In 2013 Da Bears will suit up 7 times versus teams that made the postseason a season ago.
This is an increase of 1 such contest compared to the prior season.
Other potentially competitive matchups include @Pittsburgh in week 3, @Detroit in week 4,
New Orleans in week 5, NY Giants in week 6, @St. Louis in week 12, and Dallas in week 14.
While the Steelers, Giants, and Saints missed the playoffs last season, they are all
projected by Vegas to win more games than the Bears in 2013.
Overall the Bears face quality opponents in over 3/4 of their contests.
Record Projection:
In 2013 we now project the Bears to go (9-7), a slight upgrade from our opening
projection and slightly topping the
Vegas season win total of 8.5 games…
We like what Trestman is doing as Chicago’s new system focuses on the strengths &
weaknesses of the available talent pool…
However, we think the Bears’ schedule is much tougher in reality than on paper,
so matching last season’s double digit win total could be tough.
