Chicago Bears 2012 Season Win Total Outlook & Projection:
2012 Chicago Bears Las Vegas Season Win Total Line;
As of this writing, oddsmakers have the 2012 NFL regular season
win total betting line
for the Chicago Bears set at 9.5 wins.
This represents an increase of 1.5 wins from the Bears’
prior year regular season mark of (8-8). And it also represents an
increase of 1 win from last season’s win total line.
Part of this line has to do with QB Jay Cutler and RB Matt Forte
missing action last season. Surely the Bears would have finished above
.500 without the injuries?
Add to the mix an improved backup QB in Jason Cambell,
an improved backup RB Michael Bush, and of course the reunion of WR Brandon Marshall
with Jay Cutler, and it appears going over 9.5 wins is likely.
But enthusiasm must be tempered in part due to the rise of division
rival Detroit, the power of division rival Green Bay,
and concerns about LB Brian Urlacher’s left knee.
Schedule Analysis:
In 2012 Da Bears will suit up 6 times versus teams that made the postseason a season ago.
This is a reduction of 1 such contest compared to the prior season.
As you can see, 2/3 of these games are in the division.
Other than the above difficult matchups, Chicago’s toughest games on paper include;
@Dallas in week 4, home to Carolina in week 8,
@Tennessee in week 9, home to Seattle in week 13, @Minnesota in week 14, and
@Arizona in week 16… In terms of non-returning playoff team
competition, the above slate should be condsidered desireable.
Lighter competition includes;
home to Indianapolis in week 1, home to St. Louis in week 3,
@Jacksonville in week 5, and home to Minnesota in week 12.
Overall the Bears’ schedule rates as light. Even if they lost all 6 games to returning
playoff teams from a year ago, they could still walk away with 10 wins and it wouldn’t surprise
us in the least bit.
Record Projection:
In 2012 we project the Bears to go (11-5), topping the
Vegas season win total of 9.5 games. As long as key players stay healthy,
there’s no reason the Bears can’t make the playoffs in the hotly contested NFC.
