Carolina Panthers 2011 Season Win Total Outlook & Projection:
2011 Carolina Panthers Las Vegas Season Win Total Line;
Oddsmakers currently have the regular season
win total betting line for the Carolina Panthers set at 4.5 wins…
This number is an increase
of two-and-a-half wins from the Panthers prior year record of (2-14).
Part of this line has to do with the fact that
Carolina is currently at the bottom of the pile in the NFL,
and will be suiting up a rookie QB (Cam Newton).
However, the line really needs to be above Carolina’s
2 win number from last season. After all, two is such a low number,
that all it would take to go over is a couple of freak plays or bad calls.
Setting the line at two would undoubtedly invite one way action on the over
as few would have the guts to bet under 2.
On the other hand, 4.5 is a number that is sure to draw more even action.
But as you can see, we think the Panthers will struggle to beat
this number.
At FootballLOCKS.com we’ve never been afraid to call it like we see
it, and project a 1 win season or worse!
Schedule Analysis:
In 2011 the Panthers will play 7 games versus teams that made the postseason a year ago;
That’s two more contests versus playoff teams compared to a season ago.
Additionally, the Panthers have to play
the (10-6)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
twice, a division rival on the cusp of a playoff appearance last season.
Other potentially competitive matchups include home tilts versus
Washington and Minnesota,
plus road games @Detroit (on the rise), and @Houston.
On paper, the Panthers’ 2011 schedule grades as the toughest slate in the league.
Their best chances to win appear to be home games versus
Jacksonville and Tennessee. Shall we call it a split?
Record Projection:
In 2011 we project the Panthers to go (1-15), falling several games below the
Vegas win total of 4.5…
We doubt Carolina has made enough improvement this off-season
to turn the corner. And we project a
major struggle for Carolina to
top the number… Of course there’s always the chance injuries could wreak havoc
on their division rivals. Or Cam Newton turns into an NFL super star overnight.
