2006 NFL Projection:
Including the regular season and playoffs last season, the Panthers won tough road games at Tampa Bay, at Atlanta, at Chicago, and at the New York Giants before falling at Seattle in the NFC Championship game. It was the Panthers second trip to the NFC championship game in three years. Other notables, the Panthers knocked off the defending champion New England Patriots at home during week 2.

In 2006 the Panthers add experience and depth to the wide receiver position with the addition of Keyshawn Johnson. However, the 2006 schedule is no cake walk thanks to a very competitive NFC South, and thanks to drawing the NFC East. But barring significant injuries, a trip to the postseason should be no problem for the 2006 Panthers, a team that is certainly one of the favorites to make this season’s Super Bowl.

Carolina Panthers 2006 NFL Predictions

Week 1
Sep 10
Atlanta Win Projected – A split with the Falcons is likely all that’s required in 2006 to keep a realistic pace to make playoffs. But the Panthers can’t afford to drop the first meeting at home.
Week 2
Sep 17
@Minnesota Win Projected – With a possible road loss looming next week in Tampa Bay, this trip to the Metrodome could be considered a must win game.
Week 3
Sep 24
@Tampa Bay Loss Projected – The Buccaneers will put forth a maximum effort in this contest before heading into their bye week. But splitting with the Buccaneers should be acceptable this season.
Week 4
Oct 1
New Orleans Win Projected – Expecting to sweep a Saints team that has surrendered an average of 401.5 points over the last two seasons. The Saints enter this contest playing on a short week which should improve the already favorable odds for the Panthers in this meeting.
Week 5
Oct 8
Cleveland Win Projected – Could be building some early season momentum. Temperatures are likely to be on the hot side for the Browns.
Week 6
Oct 15
@Baltimore Win Projected – The Panthers will be giving their all to get another win before the schedule gets tougher. Going 2-1 in the first three road games would certainly be a plus.
Week 7
Oct 22
@Cincinnati Loss Projected – Suddenly a very tough place to play.
Week 8
Oct 29
Dallas Win Projected – Remember last season’s wild game versus the Cowboys? The Panthers sure do… Expect an all out effort by the Panthers heading into their bye week in this Sunday night football game at Bank of America Stadium. One possible NFC championship game preview as Keyshawn faces his former team of the past few seasons.
Week 9
Nov 5
BYE 6-2 at the bye if these preseason predictions for the 2006 Carolina Panthers prove accurate.
Week 10
Nov 13
Tampa Bay Win Projected – Could be going for a split on Monday night football. But any rust after the bye could prove most unfortunate as this could be the most important game of the season for the Panthers. Can’t afford to lose at home to the Buccaneers as they did last season.
Week 11
Nov 19
St. Louis Win Projected – Favorable matchup versus a Rams team that plays better on their carpet. But the Panther will be playing on a short week and that probably won’t help the cause.
Week 12
Nov 26
@Washington Loss Projected – Not an easy road game.
Week 13
Dec 4
@Philadelphia Win Projected – Would be a good road win to get in early December. The Panthers proved they could win on the road in colder weather during the 2005 playoffs.
Week 14
Dec 10
N.Y. Giants Win Projected – Can’t get caught looking ahead to the champs. This game is more important for playoff positioning.
Week 15
Dec 17
Pittsburgh Win Projected – Beat the defending champs? Why not? They did it to New England last season.
Week 16
Dec 24
@Atlanta Loss Projected – Could be a bit of a let down after playing the champs. But likely a very important game with playoff positioning at stake.
Week 17
Dec 31
@New Orleans Win Projected – Likely to be tuning up for the playoffs. Perhaps playing for home field advantage and a first round playoff bye.
