Baltimore Ravens 2013 Season Win Total Outlook & Projection:
2013 Baltimore Ravens Las Vegas Season Win Total Line;
As of this writing, oddsmakers have the 2013 NFL regular season
win total line
for the Baltimore Ravens set at 8.5 wins.
This represents a decrease of 1.5 wins from the Raven’s
prior year regular season win total line, which the Ravens
pushed with (as we projected) finishing with a record of (10-6),
en route to their Super Bowl victory.
Everyone knows the negatives, the story of the departed; LB Ray Lewis, S Ed Reed, C Matt Birk,
LB Paul Kruger, S Bernard Pollard, CB Cary Williams,
NT Ma’ake Kemoeatu, and LB Dannell Ellerbe.
And everyone knows the positives, the additions; DE Chris Canty (knee seems fine),
LB Elvis Dumervil, DE Marcus Spears, LB Daryl Smith, S Michael Huff, TE Dallas Clark,
and WR Brandon Stokley.
A huge positive is the Ravens hope to have Terrell Suggs for 16 games,
unlike last season.
Schedule Analysis:
Much like last season, the Ravens find themselves with one of the toughest strengths of schedules in the league. This year the
combined winning percentage of their opponents
checks in at the .535 mark, slightly above last season’s number.
A closer look reveals a very tough slate of home games, and a middle of the road
slate of road games, which certainly is a favorable way for an
already tough schedule to fall.
6 tough home games;
- Houston in week 3
- Green Bay in week 6
- Cincinnati in week 10
- Pittsburgh in week 13
- Minnesota in week 14
- New England in week 16
2 Easy home games;
- Cleveland in week 2
- NY Jets in week 12
Two ways to sugar coat the above 6 tough home contests…
Better home than away. And better later in the season which gives
the new players time to get acclimated.
Overall in 2013 Baltimore will play 7 games versus playoffs teams from a season ago.
That’s a fairly high number but a decrease of 1 such matchup
compared to a season ago… Factor out Pittsburgh from the above list of 6
and you have 5 of the returning playoff team
matchups…
Then add road tilts with Denver in week 1, and Cincinnati in week 17
to round out the list of playoff competition.
2 other tough road tilts include @Pittsburgh in week 7, and @Chicago in week 11
for a total of 4 tough road tilts.
4 Easy to mid-level road matchups include;
@Buffalo in week 4, @Miami in week 5, @Cleveland in week 9, and
@Detroit in week 15.
Bottom line for success in 2013:
Win the 4 easy to mid-level road games. Win the 2 easy home games…
Win half of the tough home matchups. Win one of the tough road matchups.
And there’s 10 wins right there.
Record Projection:
In 2013 we project the Ravens to go (10-6), matching the
Vegas season win total of 10 wins.
If the Ravens get strong contributions from Dumervil and Canty,
there could be some upside to this projection.
