Baltimore Ravens 2012 Season Win Total Outlook & Projection:
2012 Baltimore Ravens Las Vegas Season Win Total Line;
As of this writing, oddsmakers have the 2012 NFL regular season
win total line
for the Baltimore Ravens set at 10 wins.
This number represents a decrease of .5 win from Baltimore’s
prior year regular season win total line of 10.5, which the Ravens
topped, finishing with a record of (12-4).
The biggest obstacles for the Ravens this season
may come from the inside with the departure of LG Ben Grubbs, LB
Terrell Suggs out recovering from a torn ACL, and WR Torrey Smith needing
to hang on to the ball better, which certainly could vault the offense to new heights if he can…
Meanwhile the addition of WR Jacoby Jones could also propel the passing
game to new heights.
Schedule Analysis:
In 2012 the Ravens find themselves with one of the toughest strengths of schedules in the league
with the combined winning percentage of their opponents in the prior year
checking in at the .523 mark.
In 2012 Baltimore will play 8 games versus playoff teams from a season ago.
That’s an increase of three games versus playoff caliber competition
compared to the prior year campaign.
Most of these tough contests are in the second half of the season, which can be seen as a positive for the Ravens
as Terrell Suggs potentially could return… However the sheer number of these contests is of concern.
Although five of these contests are home games.
Making the schedule tougher are four games versus teams which most would agree
underperformed last
season; @Philadelphia in week 3, @Kansas City in week 5, home to Dallas in week 6,
and @San Diego in week 12… 3 of these 4 contests are on the road,
and are likely to be highly competitive matchups
Meanwhile, lighter competition includes Cleveland at home in week 4,
@Cleveland in week 9, home to Oakland in week 10, and @Washington in week 14.
Record Projection:
In 2012 we project the Ravens to go (10-6), matching the
Vegas season win total of 10 wins.
The Ravens are contenders for sure. But their difficult schedule
could hold them back from reaching last season’s win mark of 12.
Not to mention the departure of Grubbs, and the injury to Suggs.
Potential for upside rests in the not always stable hands of speedy receivers Smith and Jones.
