Atlanta Falcons 2011 Season Win Total Outlook & Projection:
2011 Atlanta Falcons Las Vegas Season Win Total Line;
Oddsmakers currently have the regular season
win total betting line for the Atlanta Falcons set at 10 wins…
This number is a reduction
of three wins from Atlanta’s prior year finish of (13-3).
Is there doubt in Nevada about whether the ‘Falcs can
achieve double digit wins in 2011?
We don’t think so. Clearly the Falcons are one of the most solid
teams in the league.
The addition of WR Julio Jones could finally give Atlanta that
second threat on the outside. Combine that with the return
of WR Harry Douglas working out of the slot, and suddenly the
Falcons become a team that can burn you from every offensive
position considering they already sport QB Matt Ryan,
RB Michael Turner, WR Roddy White, and TE Tony Gonzalez.
But if oddsmakers make the number too high,
they won’t receive balanced enough action betting over the total,
in which case, a key injury or two, and Vegas takes a bath.
Furthermore, with the exception of Carolina, the NFC South
is one tough division, which works against their number.
Schedule Analysis:
In 2011 the Falcons will suit up 6 times versus teams that made the playoffs
a year ago;
That’s 1 less game against prior season playoff teams compared to a year ago.
Additionally, the Falcons have to play the (10-6) ‘Bucs twice,
a team on the cusp of a playoff appearance in the last campaign.
Other potentially competitive matchups include a trip to up and coming Detroit
in week 7, home to Minnesota in week 12, and a trip to Houston in week 13…
At least the temperature will be cooler in December.
But the Falcons also draw their fair share of easy competition including;
two contests versus Carolina, home games versus Jacksonville and Tennessee,
plus a trip to Seattle.
Record Projection:
Update: In 2011 we now project the Falcons to go (12-4), a slight
upgrade before the regular season kicks off… And thus further topping the
Vegas season win total of 10 games.
With a team as talented as the Falcons, there certainly is the potential for
some additional upside, especially if Jones and Douglas pan out.
Of course there’s always the chance injuries could wreak havoc in the other direction.
