Atlanta Falcons 2007 NFL Projection:
The Atlanta Falcons turn to new coach Bobby Petrino in 2007.
And it looks like the Falcons will also turn to a new quarterback, Joey Harrington, to fill in
for the suspended Vick.
The Falcons find a fairly tough schedule with ten
games versus teams that finished .500 or above in 2006. Not to mention that in 2006, the Falcons
went 0-6 against teams that ended up making the playoffs.
So considering the Falcons finished below .500 in 2006, it looks like tough times
again in 2007.
The arrival of Joe Horn
provides a more reliable set of hands at receiver.
Of course the health of John Abraham will be paramount to the success of the defense. When healthy, he can singlehandedly
win games.
Unfortunately, the probability of Abraham staying healthy
for a full season isn’t very high.
A closer look at the Falcons’ schedule reveals a few must
win road games; at Minnesota, at Tennessee, and at Arizona. These aren’t the strongest opponents,
and in our opinion the Falcons need to take
at least two, but probably all three of these road games to have any shot at the postseason…
But the most key stretch of the season will be the six games from November 11 through
December 16 as follows;
If the Falcons could go (4-2) or better during the above stretch, then perhaps they would surprise
with a trip to the playoffs, but we feel it’s very unlikely with Harrington now at QB.
Overall we’re predicting a (5-11) finish for Atlanta in 2007.
