2006 NFL Projection:
The Atlanta Falcons find a very tough schedule with nine games versus teams that finished above .500 in 2006, making this year’s slate of games even tougher than last season’s. As a result, the Falcons may find it difficult to qualify for the postseason in 2006… If they do make the playoffs, extra props should be in order as the team will have likely overcome some heavy odds.

Atlanta Falcons 2006 NFL Predictions

Week 1
Sep 10
@Carolina Loss Projected – Would be happy to split with the Panthers. An upset here would be a great way to start 2006.
Week 2
Sep 17
Tampa Bay Win Projected – Can’t afford to start 0-2. Need to beat top division foes like the Buccaneers at home.
Week 3
Sep 25
@New Orleans Win Projected – Sweeping the Saints may be needed to reach the playoffs. Week 3 is good timing for this Monday night football road game in New Orleans at the Superdome, as the Saint’s offense might not have jelled under Brees yet.
Week 4
Oct 1
Arizona Win Projected – A must win home affair, and a maximum effort before the bye. The Falcons will be working on a short week, but will be catching the Cardinals off a long trip.
Week 5
Oct 8
BYE 3-1 at the bye if these preseason predictions for the 2006 Atlanta Falcons prove accurate.
Week 6
Oct 15
N.Y. Giants Loss Projected – Could be rusty off the bye. Can’t afford to get caught looking ahead to the champs.
Week 7
Oct 22
Pittsburgh Loss Projected – Would be a great win. But the Steelers are road warriors.
Week 8
Oct 29
@Cincinnati Loss Projected – Tough schedule could start to wear on the team.
Week 9
Nov 5
@Detroit Win Projected – Remember Thanksgiving last year?
Week 10
Nov 12
Cleveland Win Projected – The Falcons can’t afford to lose this one and expect to make the playoffs in 2006.
Week 11
Nov 19
@Baltimore Loss Projected – Outside, a bit chilly, versus a respectable defense.
Week 12
Nov 26
New Orleans Win Projected – Need to sweep. But this game may be tougher than advertised if the Saint’s offense is jelling under Brees.
Week 13
Dec 3
@Washington Loss Projected – Outside, possibly cold versus a tough defense. Not a good recipe for a road victory.
Week 14
Dec 10
@Tampa Bay Loss Projected – Splitting with the Buccaneers may not be good enough to qualify for the playoffs if these preseason projections stand correct. Pulling off an upset a Raymond James Stadium could provide the kind of late season momentum needed to make a playoff run. Easier said than done.
Week 15
Dec 16
Dallas Loss Projected – Saturday night football game versus what could be one of toughest opponents in a powerful NFC East.
Week 16
Dec 24
Carolina Win Projected – Could be going for the split.
Week 17
Dec 31
@Philadelphia Loss Projected – May need it to make the playoffs if these preseason predictions ended up underestimating the Falcon’s 2006 record. But it simply might be too frigid to pull out a cold weather road game on Dec 31. All in all, could be a tale of a brutal schedule with two cold weather December games, and four of five December games versus teams that finished above .500 in 2006.
