Arizona Cardinals 2007 NFL Projection:
Ken Whisenhunt steps in as the new head coach of the
Arizona Cardinals in 2007. Many view this as an upgrade…
This season the Cardinals will play nine games versus teams that finished at .500 or better in
2006. However, the scheduling can be seen as good news considering five of these matchups
are versus teams that finished 8-8. However, Arizona’s road schedule looks very tough considering three of the five
out of division games
are at Baltimore, at Cincinnati, and at New Orleans… And although the remaining two out of division
road contests (at Washington and at Tampa Bay) may appear easy on
paper due to
their 5-11 and 4-12 finishes, those teams had a serious injury bugs in 2006… Of course the typical road
tilts at Seattle and
at St. Louis should be tough. And don’t forget how well San Francisco played at home last season, although
the Cardinals did win at Monster Park last season.
With what appears to be a tough road schedule, the pressure will be on the 2007 Cardinals to win often at home.
In 2007 the defensive needs to step up, because surrendering another 389 points as in 2006
won’t cut it. The addition of Roderick Hood
at cornerback should help. Meanwhile, if Levi Brown can impact the running game,
that will help the defense
stay off the field as well. Additionally, the Cardinals need their dynamic receiving duo of
Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin to stay healthy together
for an entire season.
Overall we project a slight improvement compared to last season’s (5-11) finish, and
are making a prediction of a (6-10) record
for the Cardinals in 2007. If the defense improves, there could be some upside to the prediction.
