Comments January 8, 2009

1/1

Giants

  12-4

The defending champs are set to face Philadelphia in the divisional playoffs. The Giants split with the Eagles in 2008, each winning on the road.

2/2

Titans

13-3

The Titans are set to face the Ravens in the divisional playoffs. The teams met earlier in the year at Baltimore. The result was a Tennessee victory, but the Ravens lead most of the way… The matchup conjures up memories of the Titans and Ravens meeting in the divisional playoffs in January of 2001– a Raven victory on march to their Super Bowl win.

3/4

Panthers

  12-4

Carolina will host Arizona in the divisional playoffs. The teams met in week 8 as the Panthers earned a come from behind victory in a game in which they were out-yarded by the Cardinals.

4/5

Steelers

  12-4

The Steelers will host the Chargers in the divisional playoffs this Sunday. The teams met in Pittsburgh in week 11 with the Steelers squeaking out a victory in a low scoring affair.

5/3

Colts

  12-5†

The Colts fell in OT at San Diego in the wild card round. It’s a little odd that the Colts at (12-4) had to play on the road against the (8-8) Chargers. The NFL’s playoff system may not be perfect, but the games are still plenty exciting. And who’s kidding who? The Chargers have had the Colts’ number going back to the breakup of their perfect season a few years back.

6/6

Ravens

  12-5†

Baltimore’s defense took care of business at Miami in the wild card round. The Ravens head to Tennessee for a divisional playoff matchup. The Ravens let one get away from them against the Titans earlier this season in a home game.

7/8

Eagles

10-6-1†

The Eagles outlasted the Vikings in Minnesota to advance to the divisional playoffs where they will meet division rival New York at Giants Stadium. Can the Eagles beat the Giants on the road for a second time this season? Stay tuned.

8/14

Chargers

9-8†

It was the Sproles show as the Chargers defeated the Colts in overtime in the wild card round in San Diego. It’s certainly interesting when a team uses a playoff win to get above the .500 mark. And that’s exactly what the Chargers did, as they just seem to have the Colts’ number going back a few years now since breaking up Indianapolis’ bid for an undefeated season… And of course knocking the Colts out of the playoffs the last couple of seasons now… The Chargers head to Pittsburgh for a divisional playoff matchup next weekend in a rematch of a close affair from week 11.

9/15

Cardinals

10-7†

Warner and Fitzgerald put on a show and the Cardinals’ defense rose to life in Arizona as the Cards defeated the Falcons in the wild card round. Arizona heads to Carolina for the divisional playoffs. The teams played a tight game in Carolina already this season. The Cards lead most of the way, but the Panthers prevailed.

10/7

Falcons

11-6†

The Falcons amazing season came to end at Arizona in the wild card round as Atlanta simply turned the ball over too many times to win a road playoff game.

11/10

Vikings

10-7†

The Vikings had a strong second half this season, but in the wild card round they faced a team that had an even stronger second half… The result was a home loss to the Eagles.

12/11

Dolphins

  11-6†

The Dolphins had a remarkable season filled with dynamic offensive plays that succeeded against most teams. But as you saw, Baltimore’s defense was just too strong for Miami to overcome. As a result the Dolphins fell at home in the wild card round.
