1/1

Patriots

  9-0

The Patriots leaped their biggest hurdle in their quest for perfection overcoming a 10 point fourth quarter deficit, not to mention several questionable pass interference calls to win at Indianapolis. The Colts were playing without Marvin Harrison. However, let’s not forget in the previous three meetings the Patriots played without “their” Harrison (Rodney that is). The Patriots were also without safety, Eugene Wilson and the Colts without left tackle, Tony Ugoh.

2/2

Colts

  7-1

The Colts’ defense was tremendous for the majority of the game, stifling New England’s offense. But in a role reversal from last season’s AFC Championship game, it was Indianapolis that couldn’t hold the late fourth quarter lead, and the Colts went on to suffer their first loss of the season. The Colts had to play without Marvin Harrison and Tony Ugoh. And who’s kidding who? Indianapolis can still win the Super Bowl. But they’ll likely have to go through New England to get there.

3/3

Cowboys

  7-1

The Cowboys kept their winning ways going with a 21 point victory in Philadelphia as Romo and Owens were unstoppable. The Cowboys go back on the road next week to face the Giants. A win would virtually cement the division for Dallas, while a loss would leave the Cowboys and Giants tied for first.

4/4

Packers

7-1

With the game on the line Favre tossed another touchdown bomb to Jennings leading the Packers to their second straight road win in the AFC West. With the win Green Bay improved to 6 games above .500 while keeping a 1 game lead over Detroit in the NFC North… Overall the Packers improved to (4-0) on the road.

5/8

Steelers

  6-2

The Steelers got revenge for both blowouts at the hands of the Ravens from last season, and are looking every bit as good as the Super Bowl champs from two seasons ago. The only problem is there are a couple of teams ranked above that look even better.

6/5

Titans

6-2

The Titans improved to four games above .500 thanks to holding the Panthers to under 200 yards of offense. Additionally, Tennessee gained 1 game on the Colts, thanks to New England’s come from behind win at Indianapolis. The Titans also moved 1 game ahead of the Jaguars who lost at Tampa Bay.

7/6

Giants

  6-2

The Giants had a bye and will host the Cowboys in week 10. A win would result in a tie for first place in the NFC East. A loss would probably end any hopes the Giants have of winning the division.

8/10

Redskins

  5-3

The Redskins apparently had trouble getting up for the Jets after last week’s 45 point loss to the Patriots. However, this was a game the Redskins had to win to keep their postseason aspirations alive. So when push came to shove, Washington eeked out the victory in overtime thanks very much in part to Clinton Portis who rushed for 196 yards.

9/7

Jaguars

  5-3

The Jaguars couldn’t hang with the resurgent Saints, as the defense was torched for 445 yards passing by Brees and company… While the Jaguars may be on pace to make the playoffs, they certainly don’t look like a team that would have any chance of being formidable in the postseason.

10/20

Lions

6-2

Detroit absolutely crushed the Broncos, and playoff talk is running rampant. But to make the playoffs the Lions may have to win four or even five more games. And looking at Detroit’s schedule it appears they could be underdogs in the majority of their remaining games. So the Lions would do well to keep the undefeated at home streak going. But that would mean wins over the Giants, Cowboys, Packers, and Chiefs.

11/15

Buccaneers

5-4

Tampa Bay held Arizona to under 200 yards of offense to get back over the .500 mark. The Buccaneers could just as easily be (7-2) if not for two turnover marred losses in the previous two weeks.

12/17

Browns

5-3

For the second week in a row Cleveland came back from down double digits against an NFC West team to grab the win… With this week’s victory over Seattle in overtime, the Browns improved to 2 games above .500… Lewis ran for 4 scores and Anderson threw for over 350 yards.

13/23

Saints

4-4

The Saints got back to .500 winning their 4th game in row with a taming of the Jaguars as Brees threw for 445 yards. With each week the Saints have been looking more like the team that made the playoffs last season. With the winless Rams on deck, the Saints have as good of a chance as any to make it five wins in a row.

14/16

Chiefs

4-4

Kansas City had a chance to separate from the Chargers in the AFC West, but a la the Broncos, couldn’t stop Favre and Jennings from connecting on a touchdown bomb with the game on the line… To make matters worse, Larry Johnson left the game with an injured ankle.

15/9

Chargers

4-4

After last season who would imagine that just one year later LT would get outrushed by 256 yards in a game? The Chargers fell to .500 as the defense allowed Adrian Peterson of the Vikings to set a new record for rushing yards in a game at 296.

16/13

Cardinals

3-5

Arizona’s offense was stifled in Tampa Bay, and the Cardinals fell to two games below .500. However, with the Seahawks losing in Cleveland, Arizona still has a solid chance to take the NFC West.

17/14

Seahawks

  4-4

Seattle had a great chance to open up a two game lead in the NFC West over Arizona thanks to the Cardinals losing at Tampa in an early game. But the Seahawks couldn’t hold a 15 point lead at Cleveland.

18/21

Bills

4-4

The Bills won their third game in a row as Lynch and Evans went wild on the Bengals. If Buffalo hadn’t folded against the Cowboys, they would be in playoff hunt. Furthermore, if the Bills could have hung on against Denver in week 1, they would be tied for the 3rd best record in the AFC.

19/11

Eagles

3-5

The Eagles chances of making the playoffs were essentially crushed by the Cowboys. The loss marked the 3rd time this season that Philadelphia failed in an attempt to win back to back games.

20/25

Vikings

3-5

Adrian Peterson broke Jamal Lewis’ record for most rushing yards in a game by galloping for 296 yards against the Chargers. Minnesota just needs to get a quarterback who can play now. Not a “QB of the future” or someone who needs to be groomed… Rather someone who can step right in and play. Because the quarterback position is about the only element that is holding this team back.

21/19

Ravens

  4-4

The Ravens were demolished by the Steelers on Monday night. Baltimore’s defense has gone a long way in the wrong direction since keeping the Colts out of the end zone in the divisional playoffs last January.

22/20

Panthers

  4-4

The Panthers lost their first road game this season, falling victims in Tennessee. Could this be a sign that the Panthers are ready to win their first home game this season? With Atlanta on deck that appears likely.

23/22

Bears

3-5

While on a bye week the Bears fell another 1/2 game behind the Packers, Lions, and Vikings as each team won in week 9.

24/24

Texans

4-5

The Texans pulled to within 1 game of .500 with a win at Oakland, and have a much needed bye coming up in week 10.

25/18

Broncos

  3-5

The Broncos lost Jay Cutler to an injury, and then went on to lose at Detroit by 37 points. At two games under .500 one would think the Broncos would be out of the playoff chase. But with the Chiefs and Chargers tied for first in the AFC West at (4-4), anything is still possible.

26/29

Falcons

2-6

Dunn had his first 100 yard game in over a year as the Falcons got their second win of the season against the reeling 49ers.

27/26

Raiders

2-6

The Raiders lost their 4th game in row, falling to the Texans who suited up their second string quarterback and were also playing without their star wide out.

28/27

Bengals

2-6

The Bengals remained winless on the road thanks to losing in Buffalo, falling to 4 games below .500 in the process. Chad Johnson left with an injury.

29/28

Jets

1-8

The Jets did what most fans would probably want them to do at this point of the season… Play hard behind their QB of the future, give the opposing team a scare, and blow the game at the end to preserve draft pick position.

30/30

49ers

2-6

With the loss in Atlanta, San Francisco fell to four games below .500 and has now lost six games in a row since starting out (2-0).

31/31

Rams

0-8

The Rams had a bye and will look for their first win of the season at New Orleans; a team that has won 4 games in a row.

32/32

Dolphins

  0-8

The Dolphins had a bye and will look for their first win of the season versus the Bills; a team that has won 3 games in a row.
