1/1
Titans
6-0
Tennessee remained undefeated galloping their way to 332 yards rushing
in Kansas City. The Titans can virtually lock up in the AFC South
with a win Monday night over the Colts.
2/2
Giants
5-1
The Giants bounced back from their Monday night loss in Cleveland
with a home victory over the 49ers.
New York will head to Pittsburgh in week eight
for what could potentially be a Super Bowl preview.
3/3
Redskins
5-2
Washington bounced back from their little mishap with the Rams
with a solid defensive performance against the Browns.
If anybody needs to be reminded why Washington is ranked third,
they have wins over Arizona, Philadelphia (who crushed Pittsburgh),
a hard luck New Orleans team with several losses against
quality teams,
and Dallas with Tony Romo.
4/4
Buccaneers
5-2
Tampa Bay cruised to their fifth win
of the season with a home victory over the hapless
Seahawks…
Previous victories over
Carolina, Atlanta, Green Bay, and @Chicago
rank very nicely.
5/7
Panthers
5-2
The Panthers improved to (5-2), dealing the Saints a devastating blow
in the process.
6/5
Cardinals
4-2
Arizona had a bye in week 7 and will get back to action
in week 8 @Carolina in a game
that is likely to have playoff implications…
Vegas likes the Panthers.
Who do you like?
Who do we like?
Get a
pass
to find out.
7/8

Bears
4-3
Kyle Orton continues to impress as
the Bears scored a key victory
at home over the Vikings.
The Bears could easily be (6-1) or even (7-0).
And their schedule has been anything short of easy.
Look it up.
8/6
Cowboys
4-3
Playing without Tony Romo,
the Cowboys imploded at St. Louis…
Anybody remember
Drew Bledsoe having a pin inserted into his broken
index finger so he could still play in 1998?
See picture.
With the Cowboys at risk of dropping to .500,
a tough Tampa Bay team comes to town
in week eight.
For Dallas’ sake, Hopefully John Gruden
won’t remember that Thanksgiving Day
blowout a few years ago 🙂
Perhaps he’ll
take it easy on his old pal
and Super Bowl winning quarterback,
Brad Johnson?
9/9
Eagles
3-3
The Eagles had a bye in week seven and will get back to action in week eight
at home against the Falcons.
As far as the early playoff picture goes, this is essentially a must win game
for Philadelphia team that
has suffered a three close losses to top ranked teams including;
Washington, Dallas, and Chicago.
Vegas *really* likes the Eagles in this game.
10/10
Steelers
5-1
We’re getting e-mails from Steelers’ fans wanting to know why Pittsburgh isn’t
ranked ahead of the defending champs. Well, how about beating them first?
In week 7
the Steelers decimated the Palmerless Bengals to improve to (5-1).
That won’t move the Steelers up this week
because it’s a bit crowded
in this vicinity. And the Steelers don’t have any wins
against teams having a record above .500…
Furthermore, their early loss at Philadelphia
is holding them back from leapfrogging both the Eagles and Cowboys into the 8th spot…
If the black and gold defeat the Giants this week
the doors above will of course come flying open.
To be fair, if the Steelers lose,
they probably won’t drop in the rankings.
In fact they might even move up
if it’s a close game, and/or depending upon what happens
to the above teams…
Power rankings– it’s not all about records,
it’s about how you got that record.
11/17

Bills
5-1
The Bills scored a key victory over the Chargers
which is likely to have playoff implications of the positive variety.
However, the top 10 of the power rankings is currently populated
by teams that have at least one win against another
team with a record better than .500–
or at least teams coming off a playoff season
and still playing well such as Tennessee and Pittsburgh.
12/13
Falcons
4-2
The Falcons had a bye in week seven and will look to continue
they are winning magic in week eight at Philadelphia.
Odds makers don’t see it happening.
The Eagles are currently a 9 point favorite.
13/14
Packers
4-3
The Packers got back above the .500 mark
with a 20 point victory at home over the Colts,
returning to Peyton Manning interceptions for touchdowns.
Ryan Grant went over 100 yards rushing and finally cracked the end zone.
14/12
Chargers
3-4
The Chargers fell below the .500 mark with a loss in Buffalo…
A game which probably would have gone the other way
if played in San Diego.
15/21
Patriots
4-2
The Patriots improved to two games above .500 with a thumping of the Broncos
on Monday night as their ground game came alive.
16/11
Colts
3-3
The Colts were blown away in Green Bay as Manning
threw two interceptions that were returned for touchdowns.
17/15
Vikings
3-4
It was blooper city
as the Vikings self destructed in Chicago,
handing the Bears easy touchdown after easy touchdown.
18/16
Saints
3-4
The Saints lost Bush to a knee injury and their record woes continued
thanks to their brutal schedule.
19/23
Ravens
3-3
After letting back to back games slip away against two
top 10 teams (Pittsburgh and Tennessee)
the Ravens collapsed at Indianapolis, suffering their
3rd straight defeat.
20/18
Jaguars
3-3
The Jaguars had a bye week 7 and will get back to action week 8
at home versus Cleveland.
21/19
Broncos
4-3
The Broncos were creamed in New England as Cutler’s finger was injured on the first play of the game.
Of course Jay Cutler doesn’t play run defense, and neither did any of the Broncos’
defensive lineman as the Patriots ran wild.
This is a team that could easily be (2-5)
right now.
22/20
Dolphins
2-4
The Dolphins dropped their second straight game
as Baltimore’s rushing defense proved to be
too strong.
23/24
Browns
2-4
After upsetting the defending champs,
Cleveland played to within three points at Washington.
Earlier this season Cleveland played to within four points
against Pittsburgh.
Considering how ineffective
the Browns’ offense has been this year,
their impressive defensive
performance looks even better…
24/29
Rams
2-4
Haslett’s Rams moved to (2-0) with a shocking
victory over the Romoless Cowboys…
Next victim New England?
Probably not.
25/22
Jets
3-3
The Jets suffered a crushing defeat at Oakland
in overtime which could very likely
be a playoff killer.
26/25
Texans
2-4
The Texans scored their second victory row thanks to
defeating the Lions at home…
Houston has a shot to make it three wins in a row
when they host Cincinnati in week eight.
27/28
Raiders
2-4
The Raiders stunned the Jets in overtime
to pull to within two games of .500.
28/26
49ers
2-5
Mike Nolan is out and Mike Singletary is in as
the 49ers fell on the road against the defending champs. It was
their fourth loss in a row… Of course, could they really
be expected to beat New Orleans, New England, Philadelphia,
or the Giants?
29/27
Bengals
0-7
Without Carlson Palmer the Bengals couldn’t
hang with the Steelers.
The loss dropped the Bengals to (0-7).
30/30
Seahawks
1-5
The Seahawks fell to four games below .500 via a loss in Tampa Bay.
Seattle looks to be on pace for a last place finish in the
NFC West.
31/31
Chiefs
1-5
When most people hear of a team getting out-rushed by 274 yards (like the Chiefs were
out-rushed by the Titans)
their initial thought is college football or perhaps high school.
Oh that was low. How could you think that?
32/32
Lions
0-6
The Lions fell to (0-6) as they were dominated by a bit more
than the scoreboard showed in Houston.
