have moved up at all for crushing the University of… I mean the Oakland Raiders.

In spite of the Titans’ best efforts to pound Manning into the ground,
he was too much game, and the Colts improved to (5-0).

the Vikings are as complete of a team as can be fielded…

Ravens which might have been billed as a potential
Super Bowl matchup had the Ravens not self-destructed

The Saints had a bye in week 5 and will host the Giants in a possible
sneak peek of the NFC Championship game.

The Broncos kept their “live underdog” ways going with
a monumental overtime victory over New England.
How about the play of Kyle Orton?
How about that Broncos’ defense?
And how about McDaniels getting the best of Belichick?

The Bengals pulled out a come from behind victory at Baltimore
inspired by the unexpected death of defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer’s wife.
Cincinnati’s remaining schedule is brutal…
Will they sweep the Steelers or Ravens?
Will they beat the Bears? The Vikings? The Chargers?
The Jets? Heck, they could lose every single one of those
games.
They might not even make the playoffs. However, Cincy’s three upsets;
at Green Bay, home to Pittsburgh, and home to Baltimore
currently have them ranked in the top 10…
To top if off, their Hail Mary loss to Denver in week 1 looks
more impressive by the week.

|
Roethlisberger continued to complete passes at a rate that’s off the charts
as the Steelers hung on for an 8 point victory in Detroit.

|
The Patriots blew a lead in Denver as Belichick, Brady and Moss
were bested by McDaniels, Orton, Marshall, and the suddenly stout
Bronco defense in (OT).

|
Penalties by the Ravens paved the way for the Bengals to come from behind
in Baltimore. Now the Ravens must win at Minnesota to avoid falling to
the .500 mark.

|
Atlanta was our money line
underdog of the week for members. Although by the time kickoff
rolled around, they weren’t much of an underdog.
None the less, Roddy White hauled in
210 yards worth of receptions as
Atlanta notched a key victory in San Francisco
setting up an even keyer matchup with Chicago
in week 6… The winner of this game is likely to
make the playoffs. The loser may not.
It’s only week 6, but this game has
playoff implications written all over it.

Jets
|

|
Sanchez and Edwards proved to be a formidable
combination. But the wildcat was too much
for the vaunted Jets’ defense to handle in Miami on Monday night.
On a neutral field or at home, the Jets probably win this game.

|
Chicago had a bye in week 5 and will head to Atlanta next week
to seek revenge for last season’s miracle comeback by Matt
Ryan and crew. BTW, the winner of this game will gain
a big leg up in the chase for a playoff spot later this season–
most likely of the wild card variety.

|
Miles Austin scored two long touchdowns
by ripping away from tackles, possibly saving the
Cowboys’ season. I don’t know if Dallas gets
the same from Roy Williams… Considering
close losses to the Broncos and Giants,
the Cowboys could be undefeated right now.
Yet they were nearly dropped to (2-3).

San Diego had a bye in week 5, and will host the Broncos on Monday night.
The Chargers had no idea they would trail Denver
in the standings by
2 1/2 games heading into week 6.
If San Diego losses this game we might need another fork.

Henne played great, and the Dolphins
used the wildcat to rush their way to victory against
the Jets in the closing
moments on Monday night.
The win makes Miami’s season interesting again…
Looking back at losses versus Indianapolis and at San
Diego, one can make the case
the Dolphins could be (4-1).
I’d like to rank Miami higher than 16. But as you can see,
it’s crowded up there.

The Packers had a bye in week 5 and will host the Lions next week.
If they don’t get back above .500 in week 6, we might have to call
out an early fork to stick in these preseason darlings…
Of course it’s only fair we mention their 2 losses were
against teams currently ranked in the top 6.

In week five you saw a 49ers’ team which can struggle to come back
if down 14-0 (especially when they don’t get defensive scores or special
team scores)…
It was that
exact line of reasoning why we picked Atlanta as our money line
underdog of the week. We asked ourselves, “Can
Atlanta get up 14-0 in this game?” Yes we said… And yes they did.
BTW, the ‘Niners haven’t won a game outside of the NFC West yet.

The Cardinals hung on for a win versus Houston by mounting a goal line stand
to avoid overtime. Up next a trip to Seattle.
A win would deal the Seahawks a crucial early season blow in the
NFC West.

The Titans had no answer for Manning and crew. Beating him up
didn’t work either. They might as well start Young the rest of the way.

in the fourth quarter at home versus the Steelers…
That makes two losses in a row. Do you see a pattern
developing? 19 losses in a row, followed by 1 win, followed
by another…………… Oh, the humanity! Lions’ fans don’t be too hard on
us, as Detroit +10.5
was our free pick of the week. What’s that? You were scared to play it?

The Redskins dropped a close affair in Carolina, falling back
below the .500 mark.
Things aren’t looking too good
for the Redskins
with 2 games remaining against Philadelphia and Dallas,

versus the Giants, and at San Diego.
