Rank

NFL Team

Record

Comments December 17, 2009

1/1

Colts

  13-0

Manning threw 3 interceptions but he also tossed 4 TD’s as the Colts held back Brandon Marshall’s record setting 21 receptions, topping the Broncos, and setting a new NFL mark of 22 straight regular season wins.

2/2

Saints

13-0

The Saints remained perfect; holding back depleted division rival Atlanta– a team which came to play.

3/3

Vikings

11-2

The Vikings got back into the win column with a convincing 20 point route of Cincinnati.

4/4

Chargers

10-3

The Chargers kept their winning ways going with an impressive road victory at Dallas.

5/5

Broncos

  8-5

When you hold Peyton Manning to 220 yards, and pick him off 3 times, and your top receiver hauls in 21 catches for 200 yards, and you enter your opponent’s territory 9 times, it would seem you’ve done more than enough to win… Not the case, as the Broncos fell at Indianapolis, and also failed to cover the spread– which was just the beginning of our bad week as we had Denver as our money line underdog of the week, not to mention ATS. Denver has more than enough quality wins to hang on to the number five spot at (8-5).

6/7

Bengals

9-4

Cincinnati’s passing game sputtered in Minnesota, which becomes quite meaningless in the wake of Chris Henry’s tragic death. RIP.

7/8

Packers

9-4

At one point this year it was almost time to call Green Bay’s season a bust… But since then they’ve kept on winning, and grabbed win #9 at Chicago in week 14.

8/11

Eagles

9-4

The Eagles are having another strong December, scoring a key road victory over the Giants in what essentially was a playoff game.

9/6

Cardinals

8-5

Every year there’s that one top flight team which gets swept by a lower ranked division rival… This year’s entrant, the Cardinals getting swept by the 49ers.

10/12

Patriots

  8-5

The Patriots overcame turnovers to grab win number eight at home over the Panthers… Now about this Randy Moss thing… He’s never really played well in the cold in the NFL. He just shuts down. It’s happened for years.

11/14

Dolphins

  7-6

The Dolphins scored a key, potentially playoff impacting, road win at Jacksonville…Just think of the games this Miami team blew earlier this season. Their record could be so much better.

12/9

Giants

  7-6

The Giants dramatically outyarded the Eagles on Sunday night, but still lost a crucial game. It appears the playoffs won’t be in their cards this season.

13/10

Cowboys

  8-5

The Cowboys dropped a low scoring affair versus the Chargers which was certainly impacted by Ware’s neck injury.

14/13

Ravens

  7-6

The Ravens blew away Detroit. No surprise. But it may be too late for this squad, whose record suffers from several blown games this season.

15/17

Jets

7-6

The Jets dominated the Buccaneers in Tampa with a solid rushing attack and a smothering defensive effort.

16/16

Jaguars

  7-6

The Jaguars dropped a key game to the Dolphins would could be a playoff breaker. Up next a chance to end the Colts’ run for perfection.

17/15

Steelers

  6-7

The Steelers forgot to bring their “Cribb Notes” to the game Thursday night in Cleveland, if you know what I mean. With losses to the Chiefs, Raiders, and Browns in a span of just 4 weeks, it cancels out impressive wins over the Chargers, Vikings, and Broncos. Yikes!

18/19

Titans

6-7

The Titans kept their playoff hopes alive with a blowout over the Rams.

19/18

Falcons

6-7

The Falcons gave the Saints a run for their money, but fell short in what’s become an injury riddled campaign.

20/20

Texans

6-7

Houston kept their slim playoff hopes alive with a 27 point thumping of the Seahawks.

21/24

49ers

6-7

San Francisco earned a sweep of the Cardinals thanks to forcing 7 turnovers on Monday night.

22/21

Panthers

  5-8

With Matt Moore at the helm, Carolina hung tough in New England before succumbing to a ten point defeat.

23/23

Redskins

  4-9

TE Fred Davis continued to impress as the Redskins erupted for 17 4th quarter points in Oakland for the victory.

24/22

Raiders

4-9

When Gradkowski left with an injury, and Russell entered the game, the Raiders crumbled at home versus Washington– which brought an end to the hot streak enjoyed by our free pick of the week page.

25/25

Bears

5-8

Cutler was plagued by more interceptions as the Bears dropped their eight game of the season in a home loss to Green Bay.

26/27

Bills

5-8

Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for just 86 yards, but the Bills grabbed a road win at K.C. thanks to picking off Matt Cassel four times.

27/26

Seahawks

  5-8

Seattle was blown out in Houston. It was their 4th major blowout loss of the season.

28/32

Browns

2-11

The Browns got up for the Steelers as much as they possibly could. And pulled off the upset on Thursday night. It was the perfect storm. And reminiscent of their upset over the Super Bowl champion Giants still in recent memory.

29/28

Chiefs

3-10

The Chiefs suffered their 10th loss of the season as Matt Cassel tossed four interceptions against Buffalo.

30/29

Buccaneers

1-12

Tampa Bay was dominated in every way, shape, and form at home against the Jets… Could they grab win number two next week in Seattle?

31/30

Rams

1-12

The Rams were crushed in Tennessee. Just crushed.

32/31

Lions

2-11

Detroit suffered a 45 point loss at Baltimore. Ummmmm…. The more things change, the more they stay the same?
