Rank

NFL Team

Record

Comments December 10, 2009

1/3

Colts

  12-0

The Colts ended Tennessee’s recent magic en route to a little magic of their own… Tying New England’s record of 21 straight regular season wins.

2/1

Saints

12-0

For a team to go undefeated in the NFL, there’s a decent chance they’ll need a little luck… In 2007, New England had a little luck against Baltimore… In week 13, New Orleans had a little luck @ Washington.

3/2

Vikings

10-2

I thought Minnesota would use their trip to Arizona as a measuring stick to see how they match up against the NFC’s Super Bowl representative from a season ago. I expected their best game. Instead, they brought their worst game… Meanwhile, Arizona used the game to prove they are still Super Bowl worthy.

4/4

Chargers

9-3

LaDainian Tomlinson became the fastest to notch 150 touchdowns as the Chargers took care of business rather unimpressively in Cleveland to stay ahead of Denver in the AFC West. Like we always say; a road win is a road win.

5/5

Broncos

  8-4

Denver rolled the Chiefs in Kansas City. Up next a trip to Indianapolis. Don’t be too surprised if they end the Colts’ run at perfection.

6/11

Cardinals

8-4

Arizona truly reclaimed last season’s flare as they destroyed the Vikings on Sunday night.

7/6

Bengals

9-3

After falling behind 7-0, Cincinnati cruised to win number nine at home versus Detroit. Up next a trip to Minnesota… And while not a popular notion, it’s certainly not a huge stretch of the imagination to bill this as a potential Super Bowl preview.

8/13

Packers

8-4

Green Bay won their 4th straight, taking down the Ravens on Monday night. They appear to be morphing into the squad everyone thought they were in preseason.

9/14

Giants

  7-5

The Giants kept their season alive with a key victory at home over Dallas, thanks in great part to Hixon’s 79 yard punt return score. The Giants were our money line underdog of the week… Not much of an underdog, but we’ll take it.

10/7

Cowboys

  8-4

Dallas had an opportunity to bury the Giants. But despite a monster game from Romo, they couldn’t get it done as the running game and kicking game floundered. Up next, San Diego then @ New Orleans… The Cowboys need to win one of these two games.

11/12

Eagles

8-4

A weakened Eagles team went into Atlanta and destroyed a weakened Falcons team… But qualifying for the postseason may not be easy with games remaining @ Giants, versus Denver, and @ Dallas.

12/9

Patriots

  7-5

Bill Belichick’s decision to go on 4th down cost the Patriots again– this time in Miami with a 7 point lead when in reasonable field goal range… In my book, the benefit of going for a 14 point lead as opposed to settling for a 10 point lead *DOES NOT* outweigh the risk of getting stuffed on 4th down, and walking away still only up 7 points… You have to take the two score lead in that situation. Instead Belichick chased the extra 4 points at the risk of losing 3 points. His team lost by just 1 point… Belichick has had so much success going for it on 4th down in the past that he appears to be disregarding the situations his team is in when deciding whether or not to go on 4th down.

13/10

Ravens

  6-6

Turnovers and penalties did the Ravens in @ Green Bay on Monday night. At (6-6) the Ravens likely need to run the table to make the playoffs. The big problem is they still must travel to Pittsburgh.

14/16

Dolphins

  6-6

Just after we busted out the fork, the Dolphins sprung back to life with a come from behind victory over New England to keep their playoff hopes alive. Their week 17 game versus Pittsburgh may be a playoff game yet.

15/8

Steelers

  6-6

The Steelers were upset and embarrassed in a last second home loss to the Raiders. Pittsburgh faces a stiff test next week when they head to Cleveland… Okay, just trying to get a rise out of everybody with that comment. But seriously folks, in their last three games, the Steelers have losses at K.C. and versus Oakland. I can’t imagine adding Cleveland to the list. Can you?

16/20

Jaguars

  7-5

The Jaguars scored a key win over Houston to improve to (7-5). Jacksonville was our free pick of the week. These have been too hot… Up next a critical game versus Miami.

17/21

Jets

6-6

The Jets got back to .500 as they ran all over the Bills while playing solid defense at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.

18/15

Falcons

6-6

Without Ryan and Turner, the Falcons were decimated by Philadelphia. Even running the table may not get Atlanta into the postseason.

19/17

Titans

5-7

Chris Johnson continued his torrid rushing streak, but Vince Young and the rest of the Titans could not continue theirs, falling at Indianapolis.

20/18

Texans

5-7

Suddenly Houston is two games below .500, having fallen @ Jacksonville. The Jags were our free pick of the week. Although I swear we didn’t know Schaub would get hurt on the first play of the game.

21/22

Panthers

  5-7

Without Williams or the struggling Delhomme, Carolina took care of business at home versus Tampa Bay, picking off Josh Freeman 5 times… With the Patriots, Vikings, Giants, and Saints on deck, it would take a virtual miracle for the Panthers to finish (9-7) and perhaps a greater miracle to make the playoffs.

22/27

Raiders

4-8

Oakland upset the champs on the road behind the arm of Gradkowski. If they only suited up a QB who wasn’t such a liability from day 1… For example, Jeff Garcia– or even this here Gradkowski.

23/25

Redskins

  3-9

The Redskins nearly upset the Saints, falling in OT. This was Washington’s third blown contest in a row. And they were mathematically eliminated from Super Bowl contention… Shocking, I know… At any rate, you know what they say… Better to have led and lost, then not led at all.

24/19

49ers

5-7

San Francisco’s road woes continued and their playoff hopes were almost certainly put to an end on the heels of their 3 point loss at Seattle in week 13.

25/23

Bears

5-7

The Bears scored an unimpressive home win over St. Louis in what’s become a total write-off season in Chicago.

26/28

Seahawks

  5-7

Seattle scored a last second win over the 49ers to pull to within two games of the .500 mark.

27/26

Bills

4-8

The Bills’ grand opening at their home away from home in Toronto was marred by a loss to the Jets.

28/24

Chiefs

3-9

Cassel was yanked in a crushing loss at home to Denver as the Chiefs fell six games below the .500 mark.

29/29

Buccaneers

1-11

Remember that “5 interception bug” that was going around a few weeks ago? It’s back. And Josh Freeman was the latest victim as the ‘Bucs fell in Carolina.

30/30

Rams

1-11

Steven Jackson had another good game. Unfortunately they’re not translating into wins as the Rams picked up loss number eleven in week 13 at Chicago.

31/31

Lions

2-10

After leading early, the Lions turned inept at Cincinnati. That’s happened a few times this season… Like we always say… Better to have led and got dominated the rest of the way, than to not have led at all.

32/32

Browns

1-11

Cleveland played to within 7 points of the Chargers at home, which might be considered a moral victory if 16 of their 23 points hadn’t come late in the 4th quarter.
