Saints
9-0
It wasn’t pretty, but the Saints remained perfect with a rather
unimpressive win at St. Louis.
2/4
Bengals
7-2
Without scoring an offensive touchdown, the Bengals went into
Pittsburgh and earned a sweep. These Bengals have too many
quality wins to rank them any lower than #2. But Benson out.
And Larry Johnson signed. Gulp?
3/3
Colts
9-0
If you think this win over New England was amazing, be sure to
revisit the AFC championship game from 2007. As I remember it,
the Patriots punted in a similar “end of game” 4th down situation, and Manning still drove
the Colts down the field to earn a trip to the Super Bowl.
4/2
Vikings
8-1
Peterson, Favre, and Rice were too much for the Lions handle,
as the Vikings improved to seven games above .500.
Don’t let the #4 ranking disturb you. There’s
not much room between the top 4 squads.
5/5
Steelers
6-3
When the Steelers hold a visiting team’s offense out of the end zone,
you figure it’s an easy win, not a tough loss… But that’s just
what the Steelers got as they were swept by the Bengals.
6/6
Broncos
6-3
After an amazing start, Denver hit rock bottom when Orton
left the game with a sprained ankle in a shocking loss at Washington.
Surely Denver wins this game if not for Orton’s injury.
And as far as power rankings go; the Broncos have wins over
the Bengals, Patriots, Chargers, and Cowboys.
So we’ll give ’em a chance to bounce back before they fall from
the top completely.
7/7
Patriots
6-3
Sure the pass interference call was laughable (the rule about coming back to the ball
through the defender is becoming a joke),
and Faulk perhaps had the first down…
But the point I want to make is; the
time for the Pats to go for it on 4th down was
not from their own 28 yard line,
but instead within the Colts’
territory to try to go up by 17 points–
as opposed to kicking a field goal to go up by
the “soft” 13 points, if you catch my drift.
Savvy? ‘Cause if you don’t get it on 4th down,
you’re still up 10 points (that’s 2 scores)
and not much worse than up 13 points.
That’s my football math.

8/9
Ravens
5-4
Baltimore shut out Cleveland on Monday night. I would venture to say
that anything less would have been cause for question.
In fact, many are questioning their output of just 16 points.
Up next Indy.
9/10
Cardinals
6-3
Arizona surmounted a 14 point deficit at home against the Seahawks
thanks to strong second half defense… The ‘Cards look like they’ll
sail off with the NFC West crown– even if they drop a bunch of games such as;
at Tennessee, at Minnesota, and home to Green Bay.
10/12
Chargers
6-3
LT came to life as the Chargers scored a key home win over the Eagles,
and are suddenly in position to overtake the reeling
Broncos next week in Denver.
11/8
Cowboys
6-3
Just when the Cowboys appeared ready to soar to greatness, they were
stymied in Green Bay… The Packers were our free pick of the week.
Were you on ’em? Relax Dallas fans. The ‘Boys were our free pick one week ago
in Philly.
12/11
Falcons
5-4
Ryan threw 2 interceptions as Atlanta fell at division rival Carolina.
Michael Turner out with a high ankle sprain.
The Falcons are in danger of falling to .500 if
they can’t win on the road next week against
a hungry Giants squad.
13/13
Eagles
5-4
The Eagles’ woes continued as they were downed in San Diego– despite
McNabb throwing for 450 yards.
14/14
Giants
5-4
The Giants had a much needed bye and will get back to action in week 12 at home
versus Atlanta in a battle of teams that need a win.
15/18
Packers
5-4
The Packers finally turned in a defensive gem to keep their
playoff hopes alive. And it couldn’t have come at a better time
because they were our free pick of the week!
16/21
Panthers
4-5
Carolina continued to play good football, upsetting division rival Atlanta.
Jordan Gross out with a broken right ankle.
The Panthers were our money line underdog of the week.
17/15
Dolphins
4-5
The Dolphins survived a late scare from Tampa Bay to move one game
closer to the .500 mark. Ronnie Brown out for the year.
18/17
Texans
5-4
Houston had a bye and will get back to action in week 12 at home versus
the surging Titans. Houston needs a win to stay in the playoff hunt.
19/24
Jaguars
5-4
Jacksonville improved to one game over .500, as Jones-Drew helped
burry the Jets
on the road, taking
a knee on the 1 yard line to pour some more ice on the clock.
20/26
Titans
3-6
The Titans remained perfect with Young
back at the helm, grabbing their 3rd win in a row–
as they erupted for 24 points in the
4th quarter against Buffalo.
21/22
49ers
4-5
San Francisco crept one game closer to .500 thanks to downing
Chicago Thursday night as the 49ers picked off Cutler
five times.
22/16
Jets
4-5
The Jets dropped below .500, thanks to getting upset at home by
Jacksonville– which literally brought Coach Ryan to tears.
Don’t worry Rex. The Jets fell off the playoff pace weeks ago.
23/19

Bears
4-5
“The 5 interception bug” has been going around.
This week it was
Cutler’s turn as his 5 picks buried the Bears at San Francisco–
a game in which Da Bears
only would have needed a few field goals to win…
Is it time to take the ball out of Cutler’s
hands on 3rd down in the red zone?
If the Bears had settled for a field goal in the first
quarter, they might have only needed 3 points at the end
of this game.
24/28
Redskins
3-6
Washington finally scored a quality win, upsetting the Broncos at home.
Of course one has to question the quality since Kyle Orton left the game
with an injury after having a great first half.
25/23
Seahawks
3-6
Seattle couldn’t hold a 14 point lead in Arizona. And that pretty
much ends any hope they have of taking the West.
26/20

Bills
3-6
The Bills had another of their patented
dreadful fourth quarters, allowing 24 points
to Tennessee… At
(3-6) Dick Jauron got the boot.
Mike Shanahan coming to town?
27/27
Chiefs
2-7
The Chiefs grabbed a road win in the likeliest of places… Oakland.
28/26
Raiders
2-7
The Raiders fell at home to the Chiefs. Russell is benched, and Gradkowski
is the new starter. I can’t believe it. I just can’t believe it.
29/29
Buccaneers
1-8
We nearly had another
shiver me timbers moment as the Buccaneers
rallied late, but fell short in Miami.
30/30
Rams
1-8
Steven Jackson and rookie WR Brandon Gibson had solid games as the Rams
gave the Saints a run for their money, albeit in a losing effort.
31/31
Lions
1-8
Detroit fell to seven games below .500, losing by 17 points
on the road at Minnesota. Mega returned.
32/32
Browns
1-8
Quinn couldn’t get anything going
on Monday night as the Browns were shut out at home by the Ravens.
No shocker there.
