Rank

NFL Team

Record

Comments November 13, 2007

1/1

Patriots

  9-0

The Patriots had a bye and take their quest for perfection to Buffalo in week 11 to face a red hot Bills team.

2/3

Cowboys

  8-1

The Cowboys swept New York to open up a commanding 2 game lead over the Giants in the NFC East as Romo and T.O. stole the show at Giants stadium.

3/2

Colts

  7-2

The fact that the Colts were in position to win a game in which Harrison was out and Manning threw 6 interceptions overall just goes to show how solid the defending champs are up and down the roster.

4/4

Packers

8-1

We knew Green Bay had a passing game and a defense to boot; now the Packers have developed a nice running game behind Ryan Grant… The big game at Dallas is only 3 weeks away.

5/5

Steelers

  7-2

The Steelers came back from down 15 point against the Browns. Looking at the score you never would suspect Pittsburgh’s defense held Anderson to just 123 yards passing, but the fact of the matter is that if it wasn’t for Cribbs’ stellar kick returns, this game probably would have been a blow out.

6/9

Jaguars

  6-3

The Jaguars went into Tennessee and earned a split by rushing for 166 yards against a defense playing without Albert Haynesworth… It was a game the Jaguars had to win to stay near to forefront of the race for a wild card spot in the AFC.

7/6

Titans

6-3

Playing without Albert Haynesworth, Tennessee couldn’t contain Jacksonville’s running game. The loss dropped the Titans into a second place tie with Jacksonville in the AFC South, but certainly not out of wild card contention.

8/7

Giants

  6-3

The Giants were swept by the Cowboys, and now must beware of going into Detroit next week feeling overly dejected… The bottom line is the Giants are still on pace to grab the top wild card spot in the NFC.

9/15

Chargers

5-4

The very idea of almost losing a game in which your team has returned two kicks for touchdowns and picked off 6 passes is ludicrous. Then again, so is continuing to pass on first-down all throughout the fourth quarter with a lead in the pouring rain against the league’s best pass defense that just shut down the Patriots the week before for nearly 4 quarters… Especially when you have LT in the backfield.

10/8

Redskins

  5-4

The Redskins gave away another game they seemingly had in the bag. As a result, Washington’s playoff aspirations took a big hit. At the same time Philadelphia’s playoff hopes have been rekindled. With Sean Taylor out the Redskins may need a near miracle to win in Dallas.

11/11

Buccaneers

5-4

Tampa Bay had a bye and will head to Atlanta in week 11. As far as power rankings go it’s a bit of a round robin between Tampa, Detroit, and Arizona… The Buccaneers lost to the Lions in Detroit while dramatically outgaining the Lions in the game. Meanwhile the Lions lost the Cardinals. And the Bucs of course beat the Cardinals.

12/10

Lions

6-3

The Lions lost their 3rd road game of the season by double digits, this time falling in Arizona. But as long as Detroit can keep winning at home a playoff spot could be in sight. However, Detroit’s remaining home schedule is not easy, with games versus the Giants, Cowboys, Packers, and Chiefs.

13/16

Cardinals

4-5

Arizona handled Detroit at home. This is a Cardinals team with several close losses including at Washington and at Baltimore. And don’t forget that big win over the Steelers in week 5.

14/12

Browns

5-4

After coming back from down double digits two weeks in a row, the Browns pulled a reversal and allowed the Steelers to come back from down 15. Overall the Browns mustered just 163 yards of offense; so they came about as close as a team can come to winning in Pittsburgh without breaking 200 yards… Cleveland’s remaining schedule is on the light side, so a playoff run could be in the cards… A win in Pittsburgh certainly would have done wonders.

15/17

Seahawks

  5-4

Seattle pitched a shutout against the reeling 49ers and kept a game ahead of Arizona in the NFC West.

16/18

Bills

5-4

The Bills are living large off the cellar dwellers of the AFC East, having grabbed their third win of the season at the hands of either the Dolphins or Jets possessing a relative combined record of (2-25) when looking at those 3 games. Throw in the Bengals at (3-6) and Ravens at (4-5) and the combined record of the teams Buffalo has beaten comes out to (9-36)… It’s tough to see the Bills making the playoffs with games remaining against New England, Jacksonville, Washington, Cleveland, N.Y. Giants, and Philadelphia. If Buffalo does make the playoffs, it will be one heck of a feat.

17/19

Eagles

4-5

Every time the NFL world is ready to stick a fork in the Eagles they seem to bounce back with a win. This time Philly pulled out a semi miraculous victory in Washington by scoring 20 points in the 4th quarter.

18/25

Broncos

  4-5

Selvin Young broke 100 yards as the Broncos thumped the Chiefs in Kansas City to get back into the AFC West hunt.

19/13

Saints

4-5

The Saints couldn’t make it 5 wins in a row. Instead they reverted to their early season form and were blown out at home by the previously winless Rams.

20/23

Bears

4-5

Just when it looked like the Bears were about to drop to (3-6) they put up 14 fourth quarter points in Oakland to pull to within 1 game of .500… Grossman relieved the injured Griese in the second quarter. While it’s certainly too late to make a run at the division, if the Bears get hot perhaps they could get back in the wild card hunt.

21/14

Chiefs

4-5

The Chiefs fell below the .500 mark as they were pounded at home by the Broncos. The loss dropped Kansas City into second place while giving the Broncos new hope for the playoffs.

22/20

Vikings

3-6

The Vikings got shut out in Green Bay and Adrian Peterson tore a ligament. At three games below .500 one has to wonder if the Vikings will be in any real hurry to get Peterson back in the lineup.

23/24

Texans

4-5

The Texans had a bye and will host the suddenly cooled off Saints in week 11 as Houston attempts to get back to .500.

24/28

Bengals

3-6

Cincinnati’s defense finally put in a good performance, almost shutting out the Ravens in Baltimore. Then again, including this contest the Ravens have only averaged 12 points a game over their last six. At any rate, the Bengals swept the Ravens.

25/21

Ravens

  4-5

  What do the following numbers have in common; 51, 24, 34, 27, 31, 24, 33?
That’s how many points the Bengals have allowed in their last seven games… Needless to say the Ravens’ woes continued as they were almost shutout at home by the Bengals, scoring a whopping 7 points.

26/26

Falcons

3-6

The Falcons won their second game in a row; it was also their first road win of the season. Atlanta will go for three in a row when they play the Buccaneers coming off a bye next week.

27/22

Panthers

  4-5

With a chance to win their first home game this season the Panthers fell to Atlanta. Shall we stick a fork in em’?

28/27

Raiders

2-7

The Raiders lost their 5th game in row, falling to the Bears, thanks to allowing 14 points within the final 4 minutes of the game.

29/31

Rams

1-8

St. Louis played spoiler in New Orleans snapping out of their season long funk to grab their win of the season.

30/29

Jets

1-8

The Jets had a bye and will look for their second win of the season when they host the Steelers in week 11.

31/30

49ers

2-7

The 49ers fell to five games below .500, thanks to getting shut out at Seattle on Monday night and have now lost seven games in a row since starting out (2-0).

32/32

Dolphins

  0-9

The Dolphins skunked the Bills’ offense through 3 quarters, but it wasn’t enough to get the win. On the plus side Chatman looked good and the Dolphins’ run blocking continues to impress.
