That's 1 fewer contest versus prior year postseason teams compared to a season ago. Furthermore, two of these games are versus suspect division rival Seattle.

Other potentially competitive matchups include; Dallas in week 2, Tampa Bay in week 5, a trip to up and coming Detroit in week 6, @Washington in week 9 (the Redskins look much improved this preseason), New York Giants in week 10, St. Louis in week 13, @St. Louis in week 17.

While the 'Niners strength of schedule on paper is light. Consider Dallas was (6-10) last season with Romo injured. The (6-10) Redskins look much better this preseason. The same can be said for the (6-10) Lions, not to mention the (7-9) Rams... On the plus side (7-9) Seattle appears to be in rough shape.

Record Projection:
In 2011 we project the 'Niners to go (6-10), falling short of the Vegas season win total of 7.5 games.

The 2011 'Niners might be viewed as an improved team, but the key key to their season is likely to be how they perform against other up and coming teams including; division rival St. Louis, Detroit, Washington, and Tampa Bay. If the 49ers can go (3-2) in these games, then there could be nice upside to this projection.

Of course there's always the chance injuries could wreak havoc for the 49ers in the other direction.
