Philadelphia Eagles 2010 NFL Projection:
"SWOT analysis" of the 2010 Eagles (including strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and
threats) followed by the FootballLOCKS.com classic schedule analysis
and a record projection summary.
Strengths:
WR DeSean Jackson (speed & shiftiness), head coach Andy Reid,
TE Brent Celek (route running), DE Trent Cole, DT's Bunkley & Patterson,
defensive line depth, strong safety Quintin Mikell,
and FB Leonard Weaver.
Weaknesses:
RB LeSean McCoy's blitz pickups, LG Todd Herremans' recurring foot problem,
outside linebacker size.
Opportunities:
C Jamaal Jackson (returning from
torn ACL should do wonders for the offensive line),
Rookie DE Brandon Graham could deliver a similar impact as Trent Cole delivers from the right side
giving the Eagles a fierce up front pass rush.
Can LT Jason Peters regain his pass protection mojo?
Can MLB Stewart Bradley recapture his previous form coming back from injury?
2nd round pick Nate Allen looks good a free safety.
Threats:
The departures of both Donovan McNabb &
Brian Westbrook leave huge holes to fill. Can Kevin Kolb and LeSean McCoy match
their production? Can the big three starting interior lineman (C Jamaal Jackson, LG Todd Herremans & RG Stacy
Andrews) reclaim their pre-injury form?
Cowboys' OLB Anthony Spencer came on strong in the 2nd half of last season giving the Cowboys a menacing
linebacking core. The Giants look to have reclaimed a solid defensive line rotation.
Schedule Analysis:
Recently the Eagles have had brutal schedules. But with the Giants failing to make the playoffs
last season, the Eagles will suit up just 5 times against playoff teams from a season ago as follows;
But don't get too excited. As mentioned the Giants weren't playoff caliber last season. But much of that
had to do with injuries... Furthermore, the Eagles will face several borderline playoff teams including;
Atlanta, @San Francisco, @Tennessee, and Houston. And we'd be insanely remiss if we didn't factor the
upgrade Washington made at QB with former Eagle great McNabb.
Record Projection:
Overall we now forecast an (8-8) campaign for the 2010 Philadelphia Eagles, a slight downgrade from our opening projection.
There's much excitement about the potential of Kevin Kolb and the Eagles' young skill position players, but
with health questions populating the interior of the Eagles' offensive line,
success this season may fall on the shoulders of a great looking defensive line.
