Latest Season Preview
|
2006 NFL Projection:
The Dolphins were one of the league's strongest finishers
in 2005, closing the season on a 6-0 run. The addition of Dante
Culpepper brings a world of experience to the quarterback position.
But considering Miami didn't make the playoffs in 2005, the
schedule still consists of seven extremely difficult games including
the two annual meetings versus the Patriots;
Not to mention an unfortunately timed meeting @Buffalo in late December where
the temperatures are likely to be ice cold.. However, the playoffs
could be within reach for the Dolphins in 2006, but it may take
an 11-5 record to get there or else Miami could find themselves
on the bubble looking in.

The following were FootballLOCKS.com's straight up, non point spread NFL

Miami Dolphins 2006 NFL Predictions
|
Week 1 |
Sep 7 |
@Pittsburgh |
Loss Projected - Knocking off the champs on
their home field in the Thursday night NFL opener wouldn't
be impossible, especially with Roethlisberger out. But the Steelers
defense is still mighty. |
Week 2 |
Sep 17 |
Buffalo |
Win Projected - Could be too much heat
for the visitors at Dolphins Stadium. |
Week 3 |
Sep 24 |
Tennessee |
Win Projected - A two touchdown victory over
the Titans at the end of 2005. Rinse and repeat. |
Week 4 |
Oct 1 |
@Houston |
Win Projected - Nothing like a winnable road
game, especially before a losable one. |
Week 5 |
Oct 8 |
@New England |
Loss Projected - Winning in New England two
years in a row would be a bit of a long shot, even with the
addition of Culpepper… Although Culpepper has won in Foxboro
before as a member of the Vikings, but not at the relatively
new Gillette Stadium. |
Week 6 |
Oct 15 |
@N.Y. Jets |
Win Projected - Third road game in a row is
never a good thing. But sweeping the Jets may be necessary for
Miami to qualify for the playoffs in 2006. They can't
afford to lose this game. |
Week 7 |
Oct 22 |
Green Bay |
Win Projected - A winnable home game. And
a maximum team effort heading into the bye. |
Week 8 |
Oct 29 |
BYE |
5-2 at the bye if these preseason predictions
for the 2006 Miami Dolphins hold up. |
Week 9 |
Nov 5 |
@Chicago |
Loss Projected - Could be rusty after
the bye. Any chilly weather in Chicago probably won't
help the cause. |
Week 10 |
Nov 12 |
Kansas City |
Loss Projected - A tough opponent with possible
Super Bowl visions. The Dolphins had trouble stopping the Chiefs
at home last season. |
Week 11 |
Nov 19 |
Minnesota |
Win Projected - Culpepper's former team
comes to town. A good chance for a victory as the Vikings won't
be in their element outdoors. |
Week 12 |
Nov 23 |
@Detroit |
Win Projected - Winnable Thanksgiving day
football road game as Culpepper leads his new team to familiar
ground for him in Ford Field to face the Lions. The Dolphins
can't afford a slip up in this Thursday football game
with the Jaguars and the Patriots on deck. |
Week 13 |
Dec 3 |
Jacksonville |
Win Projected - Could be going for three
wins in a row but it won't be easy versus this very solid in state rival. |
Week 14 |
Dec 10 |
New England |
Win Projected - Beating the Patriots at home
this December could be the difference between making the playoffs
or not. |
Week 15 |
Dec 17 |
@Buffalo |
Loss Projected - An unfortunately timed
meeting. Could be a let down on ice at frigid Ralph Wilson
Stadium in December. |
Week 16 |
Dec 25 |
N.Y. Jets |
Win Projected - A must win Monday night football
game on Christmas to maximize their odds of qualifying for the
playoffs. The Dolphins would like to give the customary gift
of a sack, or two, or three to whomever is quarterbacking for the
Jets. |
Week 17 |
Dec 31 |
@Indianapolis |
Loss Projected - A possible battle for the
final wild card spot. Could be out of their element in the RCA
dome, and will be playing on a short week to boot. |
