OLB Cameron Wake could increase his sack numbers given more
opportunities.

LT Jake Long (knee injury in second quarter of final preseason game),
Loss of LB's Jason Taylor & Joey Porter (sack artists).
NT Jason Ferguson suspension (DL Randy Starks moving to NT).
ILB Channing Crowder injury status.
Loss of CB Will Allen for the year.
Loss of DE Phillip Merling (non-football injury list).
Loss of kick returner Ted Ginn Jr.
Loss of 4th round draft selection LB A.J. Edds (torn ACL).
Abundance of competitive teams
in the AFC heading into the '10 season
including
the Baltimore Ravens, New York Jets,
Indianapolis Colts, Cincinnati Bengals, Pittsburgh
Steelers, Tennessee Titans, San Diego Chargers,
New England Patriots, and Houston Texans.
Schedule Analysis:
Half of Miami's games in 2010 are against teams that made the postseason last year;
Six of the above matchups are on the road.
Other potentially competitive matchups include;
The Raiders appear much improved, and it's tough travel as well.
Overall the schedule is quite imposing, but you might not realize it by looking at those
"win percentage charts"
populating the web. Such charts factor last season's records (two games versus Buffalo, the Raiders'
poor record last year, and
games versus Cleveland and Detroit). But the bottom line shows Miami has 11 matchups of tough
competition, which could make reaching the postseason a challenge.
Record Projection:
We now project the Dolphins to go (8-8) in 2010,
a downgrade from our opening projection (here as the season gets
ready to kick off), no thanks to the injury bug which has bitten the
Fish hard this preseason.
