Buffalo Bills 2010 NFL Projection:
"SWOT analysis" of the 2010 Bills (including strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and
threats) followed by the FootballLOCKS.com classic schedule analysis
and a record projection summary.
Pass defense, FS Jarius Byrd, CB Terrence McGee, CB depth, safety depth,
kickoff returns, kickoff coverage, P Brian Moorman,
K Rian Lindell, RB's/depth (C.J. Spiller,
Fred Jackson, Marshawn Lynch), WR Lee Evans, ILB Paul Posluszny.
Offensive line, passing offense, QB, WR, rushing defense.
Return of CB Leodis McKelvin. Acquisition of ILB Andra Davis
and DE Dwan Edwards could improve the defense.
Defensive scheme switch (Aaron Maybin moves to OLB in the 3-4, which
could improve his productivity).
2nd round draft pick NT Torell Troup and 3rd round pick
DE Alex Carrington could help the run defense and add depth.
C.J. Spiller could be a kick return dynamo.
FS Jarius Byrd (groin injury), departure of WR Terrell Owens, Aaron Schobel (retirement),
plus three competitive division rivals (Jets, Dolphins, Patriots).
Half of Buffalo's games in 2010 are versus teams that made the postseason last year;
Other potentially imposing matchups include;
Overall the Bills are likely to be underdogs in roughly 3/4 of their games in '10.
I'm sure C.J. Spiller will make plenty of great plays, but the Bills have real needs on their offensive line.
Think how much better could Fred Jackson would be with some solid run blocking...
Furthermore, since RB is such an oft injured position, it seems counterintuitive to draft
highly rated backs before putting together a solid O-line... Think of the Titans.
They took heat for drafting Chris Johnson. But we pointed to their solid run blocking O-line
and called the selection a smart move. The Bills seem to be
going the wrong direction in this regard... At any rate, the Bills' defense has some nice
potential. But their schedule is just tough enough where they are likely to struggle
in most contests. Overall we project the Bills to go (3-13) in 2010, a slight upgrade from
our opening projection.
