Power Rankings Archives - Most NFL power rankings bounce teams all over
because they disregard strength of schedule, or over-emphasize the most recent game played;
giving too much credit for a single blowout of a low ranked team,
and not enough credit for a close loss to a
high ranked team.
At FootballLOCKS.com we dubbed that {{unstable power ranking syndrome}}.
Historical NFL power ratings at FootballLOCKS.com payed close attention to
strength of opponents played without over-crediting the last
game played (that was too fresh on the mind of many writers);
all in a quest to deliver you with a weekly NFL power ranking that
reflected the power of each team, and not just their record.
For a team to crack the top 10 in FootballLOCKS.com's NFL football rankings, they had to earn it
with more than a single crushing of a bottom ranked squad-- as you'll discover when reading through the archives.
NFL Playoff Power Rankings After AFC & NFC Conference Championship Games, 2010
Ranking NFL Prior to Super Bowl XLIV (44)
NFL Playoff Power Ratings - 1/30/2010
It was a tale of two halfs versus the Jets. With their backs against the wall,
the Colts played the perfect second half on both sides of the ball.
But could they have played the perfect season?
Either way, it doesn't seem like this question will be on players'
minds versus the Saints in Super Bowl XLIV.
2/3
Vikings
13-5†
The Vikings certainly outyarded the Saints by enough to warrant a
victory in the NFC championship game... But turnovers proved costly,
and Favre spent a little too much time with his pants on the ground
(literally)
and Minnesota fell in OT at New Orleans.
3/2
Saints
15-3†
When you knock the opposing QB down as much as the Saints did
to Brett Favre, and the opposition fumbles as often as Minnesota did, it's usually a blowout.
But the Saints needed overtime to land a trip to Super Bowl XLIV
versus the Colts as they were dramatically outyarded by the Vikings.
4/6
Jets
11-8†
The Jets looked to be live dogs at Indianapolis, playing a terrific first half...
But in the second half their defense buckled while their offense was shutout,
leading to a loss in the AFC championship game.
