Most pro football handicappers & sports betting fans don't succeed making NFL picks over the long run because they use NFL gambling information and NFL betting stats already factored into Las Vegas pro football lines when making their NFL football picks & predictions each week...

We use our innovative Backwards Odds Handicapping of Las Vegas NFL odds & NFL point spreads to look for possible indications in the weekly NFL line as to which teams Las Vegas sports odds makers may think will cover the spread.

If you're placing NFL bets or playing in a pool, see if you increase your NFL gambling success with a bet on FootballLOCKS.com's NFL weekly picks & predictions. Super Bowl XLIII (43) Futures Odds - Heavy Favorites

Although the Patriots weren't quite "who we they they were," and couldn't hold a late lead in Super Bowl XLII, it's not a surprise they're the odds on favorite to win Super Bowl XLIII (43)... After all, including the postseason New England went an amazing (18-1), whereas the Super Bowl champs, New York Giants final record was (14-6).

Currently a $100 wager on New England to win Super Bowl XLIII pays just $250. The same bet on the Giants pays $1,000.

Brett Favre's Retirement

Brett Favre's retirement announcement had an immediate impact on this upcoming season's Super Bowl odds. Needless to say Green Bay's chances of winning the championship have taken a hit... So a $100 bet on the Packers now wins you a greater $1,200 instead of the previous $700...

Meanwhile, with Favre retired, odds on the Cowboys and Giants to win the Super Bowl have improved. A $100 wager on the Cowboys wins just $450 rather than the previous $600. And a $100 wager on the Giants wins $1,000 as opposed to the $1,200 it would have won before Favre hung up his cleats.

Other NFC teams with noticeable improvements include; Seattle, Chicago, and Minnesota. The Bears and Vikings really benefit as they play the Packers twice each regular season. In fact, the only NFC North team who's odds to win didn't improve is Detroit... Presumably odds makers think the Lions' defense is porous enough where the absence of Favre won't give the Lions much more of an advantage in beating Green Bay...

Keep your eyes peeled because if Favre changes his mind again these numbers are likely to flip right back to where they were.

Playoff Teams From Last Season

"Playoffs? Don't talk about the playoffs." Okay, I just felt like writing that. Thank you for allowing me to indulge... Among playoff teams from 2007- 2008, none have longer odds than 30 to 1. This of course equates to a $3,000 payout on a $100 super bowl bet, with Tennessee and Washington having the longest odds, thus being the highest two payouts in this category.

Non-Playoff Teams From Last Season

Furthermore, among teams that did not make the playoffs last season, the New Orleans Saints are the heaviest favorite (have the shortest odds) going off at 20 to 1, equating to a $2,000 payout on a $100 wager to win Super Bowl XLIII. In other words, oddsmakers like the Saints' chances of bouncing back in the 2008 - 2009 season.
